I'm learning that the viewfinder on my iiic shows quite a bit more than what shows up on the frame. Is this typical? I have a tendancy to crop really tightly, probably learned from my dslr which doesn't have a 100% view finder, but noticed that on my iiic with summitar I get quite a bit of clipping (maybe 5-10% of what I see in the finder). Haven't tested to see if this still happens at distances close to infinity.

Just curious to see what's typical of these cameras. I'm just learning to compencate for these and will have to see how my other lenses act as well.

Mine seems to be small and fussy, but accurate. Keep in mind they are set for accurate close up work and you get extra at infinity.

If this bothers you , a reflex camera will cure you. My Nikon F2 is perfect 100%, so is my D3 and new D7000.

With Leica, I use the BL finders, the old ones, for best accuracy.

They're set for a few metres (3 or 5, can't remember). Close-up you get less than you expect, at infinity you get more than you expect.
