Something interesting I just noticed - where the usual mf/af switch is on the 14-42mm zoom is a "lock" switch instead.... Maybe it's to be able to lock the zoom into any focal length within it's range and act as a prime?
Also notice the knurling on the zoom ring is very similar to original pens - pretty cool.

mmm, it's not a jaw dropping beauty but it would far from put anyone off. I think I might just get one, in silver. Now when will someone start a silver/white poll...
And I wonder if that OVF has multiple framelines...
The zoom ring thing, I also noticed that there's a big distance between the grey dot and the 14 marker, I wonder what does it do when it has the dot aligned with that line rather than focal length marks.

white/beige version.
Sorry but that looks very tacky : white/beige/silver ... If that's the only color option I'm out.
I want black/black/black, but would settle for black/black and a VC21 f/4 lens.

In that colour scheme it looks horrible but it's a handsome camera, in silver or black it'll look great.
My completely made up theory about the lock switch is that the zoom is electric and it controls whether the zoom ring or the dial on the back of the camera controls it.

FrozeninTime - there are 2 color options - white and beige and silver/black.
I am personally thinking the silver/black is my kind of style, classic and modern together. But I think the white/beige is pretty cool too. i like to see real different color schemes and real chances taken with new fashions.

I highly doubt that, zoom locks traditionally have been used to keep the lens from creeping when held pointing down or being swung around.

I would have to say, I think it'd look fantastic in black. It's a shame they're not gonna be selling black version, at least not yet... But the silver looks good in that tiny photo, the only thing I'll be waiting for is perhaps for the price to drop a little and that 20 F/1.7 to go with it. I've learnt my lesson with the DP1, I bought mine when it was like $800 or $900.

Where's the accessory half-case?
That'll cover up most of the silver for those who'd prefer a "stealthier" camera.

don't I know it! (nikkor 18-200mm - the "kill me" kind of zoom creep).
However I've never seen such a small or light zoom do it. Traditionally olympus kit zooms are very small, and this one looks about 3/4s the size of the 4/3rds 14-42mm... You may be right that it's a lock to stop zoom creep but I have a feeling it could be something else...
Oh and Colin that panda version you made is sexy. If they brought out a black one (I suspect they will) I'll have to buy 2 - a silver and a black. One with an ultra wide and one with a fast 50 - perrrrfect.

you may be right, and I hope you are, while it is not always the case, I do think that lenses that have zoom creep are not made very well and so on but then I am used to pro level zooms and I can only think of one pro level canon zoom that does this, that 28-300 L monster but its a design thing not a quality thing.

What is the crop factor on that thing? Is it 1.6? What 35mm equivalent is the 17mm lens?

x2 so 17mm = ~34mm (35mm EFOV ignoring the aspect ratio 4:3 vs 3:2)

Ok, I was confused because I saw APC on the previous page. 2x means a pretty small sensor!

only a hair smaller then a canon 50D or 500D's sensor but much bigger then a point and shoot's

It's more 2x rather than 1.6 because of the aspect ratio of the sensor - less diagonal length because of that hence higher crop. Read through the first pages of this thread - there's heaps of info I posted including comparative measurements of sensors.

no optical viewfinder, just a clip on, which any of us could have done anyway
Which I have remarked upon about a million times
What interests me though is that the picture shows the camera with a zoom lens and an optical viewfinder. Wonder how that is implemented?
