Trying to be Ken Rockwell only Ken is amusing.
Middle aged guy with a know-it-all attitude towards photography, isn't that pretty much the stereotype of typical amateur photographer these days?
Its easy to burst his bubble and make it clear that his out of touch and out dated but that's kind of cruel. Let him carry on in his little bubble.
Who is roger and why would anyone care about his opinion anyway? 😛Hey ... Roger insults DSLR's at every opportunity, and if the opportunity isn't there he'll create it! 😀
Do we DSLR owners get our knickers in a twist?
Never!
All cameras are toys.
where exactly did i say he teaches photography? whence the assumption he should?
😎
you were referring to him teaching photography. He's an instructor--and a good one, too. He's clear and concise, brief and to the point. His statements are memorable. His students produce better pictures after meeting him.
I just assumed that when you said
you were referring to him teaching photography.
😎
😀
Ah! But did he say it? You can say go dip in the lake, but avoid responsibility for getting wet: "I did not say go get wet, I only said go dip in that water over there" 😱
lessee... how many rangefinder knights in shining chrome armour would it take to put one word in vilk's mouth (though granted, the discovery would not advance the discussion one inch)
The use of "say" in italics was enough to blow my mind away Gabriel, it made me realize that this is the internet and that we are not really 'saying' anything are we? 😀
I agree. The first part of the rant makes sense. And in my opinion, it would be nice to have DSLRs with manual controls for aperture, shutter speed and ISO. A design where you can change everything by feel with your eye kept to the viewfinder. With the display inside your viewfinder, all your setting changes are verified with out checking the lcd.Not a bad take on street photography, if ask me. Concentrate on the subject. Know your gear, Keep it simple. Practice your technique everyday. Avoid chimping...OO
As far as the dig on rangefinder's, he is entitled to his opinion.
I also agree he has a right to express his opinion about rangefinders. However, I don't get the comment about focus. Does the man not understand what the focus patch seen in the VF is for? 😀
How come no one ever used the term "Chimping" for view cameras?
Out chimping with your Century Graphic....
