Hi everyone,

I am packing for a trip and I'm trying to decide between bringing my Canon P or an FSU body and the deciding factor seems to be resting on whether or not I can use my Jupiter-9. I know I'm going to be doing portraiture, and I'm in love with that lens. The 2 sources I could find on the subject said there was focusing issues on Canon RFs. Is this true? I tested it with a J-8-1 and my J-9 and I didn't see anything heinously out of focus, but I also shot the J-9 at a maximum of f4. I also have a late Canon 135mm f3.5 I could take if for some reason I had to have the Canon P, but I'd probably go for a Soviet body instead. Thoughts, knowledge, or advice shared is greatly appreciated.

As I understand it, the inherent focusing error created by the slightly different specifications of Leica-standard and FSU-standard lenses goes up as focal lengths increase. For that reason, I would expect greater deviation in focus with the J-9 on the Leica-standard Canon body than what you have experienced with the J-8. If you're planning to do portraits, this could be a significant factor.

Longer focal lengths and closer shots do have shorter depths of field. So focus has to be very accurate. Why not take the Canon P with a short lens, and the FSU with the J-9?
