You'd be surprised. A former classmate of mine in grad school (she was from Austria) bought into these things pretty soon after coming to the US. She used to be very sceptical about everything American but fell really hard for New Age culture.

Canon has a program for removing certain orb like effects from some affected 1Ds3's. I'm not sure what that makes Canon, but it's helpful if you're shootng a wedding.

While I do not wish to upset or offend anyone, there are many like me who would say that thsi silliness is possibly no more silly than a strict fundamentalist interpretation of religion (talking ALL religions and sects here) where people believe, assert (and of course demand that others be taught and themselves believe) palpably nonsensical stuff (based on modern learning) because its stated in some 2000 (or more) year old religious book. (Lets not go into whether it was written by God, a Messiah or ordinary men - I think you can figure out where I stand. Lets just say that a 1000 BC "scholar" if such a thing existed then, is hardly likely to be my first choice as Cosmologist - or Philosopher if it comes to that.) Oh and incentally this does not mean I believe in new age twaddle either.
Incidentally this is not meant to be a diatribe against religion either -my view of life is that I am big enough to admit that there are things I just do not know. But I do know that the earth is not flat, neither is it the centre of the universe and that humans are animals - pretty much like any others on this planet when it comes down to it. So privileging ourselves in the manenr beloved of fundamentalist religion smacks of gilding the proverbial lily. Instead this is just a statement in support of for common sense and and a plea not to throw away several millenia of human development and learning if you do happen to "believe.")
My time on this small blue rock hurtling thru space has taught me that human beings have a unique ability to believe anything they want to believe......And then interpret any evidence only as supporting it - while ignoring anything which does not.

There was a documentary of the UFO sub-culture in New Mexico titled "High Strange New Mexico"; in one part a couple are interviewed who would videotape the sky, using their full-sized VHS camcorder, and would collect mountains of tapes with "evidence" for "rods" flying through the sky.
After seeing some of their 'evidence" it became obvious to me, as a former consumer electronics technician specializing in VCRs, that their "rods" were merely momentary dropouts on the tape, which could be seen by playing back the tape in slow motion, frame-by-frame. The key piece of evidence was that all of the "rods" were horizontal in the images, parallel to the raster scan lines.
And then there's this blog entry of mine recently, recounting how my brother and I faked a UFO picture with a 110 camera and a pie tin.

First off, a shape with five sides is pentagonal, not hexagonal. Second off, don't they get the elast bit suspicious that you can only get photos like these from cameras with five aperture blades?

Now, now,
it is a well known fact that the low level orbs are comunicating with us ONLY through such lenses.
The Uber-orbs, sometime caleed deca-Orbs NEED the ten blade lenss to talk to us.
BTW, the late decades improviements in coating make it very difficult to the Orbs to communicate.
Keep the entertaining stuff coming, I love when the nonsense reaches such levels 🙂

Since I usually prefer not to rub the sensors too much, there are some dirt spots in my cameras I'm beginning to be familiar with. Nice idea to give them names...
The big one on the upper left corner of my 40D is Harry (after 'Dirty Harry'
I'm naming the ones in my R-D1s after US presidents. There's Barack, George, Bill and Ronald.
