When I first got the Hexar RF a few months ago and called around to have the framelines readjusted or whatever, KM New Jersey listed it as unrepairable. I thought I'd check again after yersterday's $200 Hexar AF sold and now they said it's listed as repairable. Cool!

Aizan, are these out of warranty repairs? What was wrong with your framelines? Mine are fine but the rangefinder is slightly out of vertical alignment (so it still focuses fine, the rangefinder image is just ever so slightly vertically off so you don't get the full "fusing" effect in the rangefinder patch). How much did they charge? Thanks.

I had mine serviced under (extended) warranty at KM NJ last April, with no problems. Well, not really - I had to send it back three times before they got it right.

no, mine's out of warranty. the frameline mask lets some of the other framelines leak through, and it's a little sticky going from 28/90 to 50/75. i don't know how much they charge, but i'm going to get an estimate.

what was the problem with your hexar, ray?

The vertical alignment was off, and they checked the camera over. They fixed that but then messed up the horizontal alignment. Sent it back, but they overdid the horizontal adjustment, Sent it back again until it came back just right. I felt like goldilocks. 🙁

blah. actually, hmm...maybe i'll take off the cover and see if i can make the readjustments. i've already worked on half a dozen cameras, and that old thread on adjusting the rangefinder is around here somewhere.

That is what I plan to do if and when it happens again, now that the warranty has elapsed. Let us know how you make out...

Hmm... I don't use my Hexar RF much anymore and rather than send it in/fiddle with rangefinder myself, I may put it up here for sale as is. It works well, just has the abovementioned issue. Will keep y'all posted.
