***Kodak Retires Kodachrome Film***

Dan, thank you for the email this morning! I got 20 rolls ordered from adorama as soon as I read the news. Funny, it was $7.99 this morning. And even though they are out of stock, the price is now listed at $9.49! B&H was $8.50 this morning, and now it's listed at $11.20!

Anyway, this is truly sad news, but it will now encourage me to make every shot count.

I snagged some Kodachrome from Adorama this morning before the price rise. I look forward to shooting it quite a bit before the processing is not available.

Don't mean no offense but what do you expect out of a Jew!:D They love money.

Yea! It's sad to see Kodachrome go but we all knew it was coming. I loaded my last roll in my Bessa L yesterday.

So all you winers, mopers & grumblers should sell those damn DSLR's you got & start buying film so Ektar 100 won't be next! ;) Just kidding....kinda!!

Guys like you give Southerners a bad name.

Kodak 5032 - KR64

Kodak 5032 - KR64

I need to stencil a t shirt: Kodak 5032 - K64

I suspect that there will be some pro´s who will come out and shoot some special projects with the best film of all time! One prediction will be some pro´s from National Geographic, Magnum and a few other pro´s around the world will be ordering this film immediately in the largest quantities possible and shoot this film (June 22, 2009 until beginning of December 2010, prior to the cut off from processing), publish some books and some will even hang on from publishing their material until much later.....

I have one roll of PKR 64 to shoot! I guess I will head to Volcano Cotopaxi!.

Now I am seriously P.O.ed

Now I am seriously P.O.ed

At 10am CDT Freestyle was out of KR but had the Professional at $13/roll.

Tonight, 9:32 pm CDT, this is what Amazon has:

Kodachrome 64 for $24.95 /roll + $9.44 shipping.

If Kodak were smart they could have offset all of their digital losses.

If this wake for Kodachrome is effective enough., and drives Kodachrome prices high enough, it just might cause a rethink of ceasing production and processing. Or maybe this whole thing is a charade to convince people that Kodak is doing everybody a big favor when the New Kodachrome Twenty-Ten hits the market in December at $49.99 a roll including processing.

Joke? What joke. You should be banned from the site. You're gone, ahole!

I've got good friends that are jewish & we're always making cracks at how tight jewish people are with there money. They even joke about it. Great day lighten up dude. If it makes ya feel better I apologize. But if you wan't to think i'm just an a'hole then thats cool, don't bother me none! I get called alot worse by that stalker up in Canada.

ABC had a nice ending to their broadcast tonight, Paul Simon, National Graphic, several decent interviews, and the pedant in me noticed them loading a roll in a camera at the end, with the code GC on the cartridge, but it was a nice homage. I wondered if they could not find a roll of Kodachrome for the segment? ;-)

Try 7 day shop or photoglossy - about 8.50 per roll

Mike

A good point if you want to order more than 3 rolls but at current 7dayshop prices, the difference between buying 3 rolls in Boots and 3 on-line is a matter of a few pennies and for while it lasts, I've happily given Boots my money for 3 KR64s as it's the only decent slide film you can find with pretty much dead certainty and ease. It was great in Canterbury, tons of the stuff (20 rolls?) all of 07/2010 expiry and gave me the 3 extra rolls I needed to complete shooting the whole of the North Downs Way on KR64 (I carried 10 on me) rather than having to switch to EBX for the last 2 days.

I can't afford a little stock pile, but hopefully in July I'll be able to buy a few more rolls and start experimenting with what will be my replacement. I think it's likely to be Elite Chrome/E100G with an 81B. Maybe Astia+81B.

Several threads here anouncing the end of Kodachrome production - in shocked, horrified tones, as though it was totaly unexpected and unneccessary. Yes, it was/is wonderful stuff, and it's demise lamentable - but if the majority of mourners were honest they would - like me, have last regularly used it years ago. Apart from the high cost of such emulsions, I personaly no longer wish to shoot a film, then send it off on a few weeks world tour, before being able to view the results!. Nowadays, with such good pictures available to me - the same day that they were taken, I have no real regrets about being 'dragged into the 21st. century'!, and now living on my old age pension, the economics are really making sense!.
So what will the death knell sound for in the new year? - Velvia?, XP2?, Portra?....it's starting to happen, and sooner than we think!
Cheers, Dave.
