Hi, have recently purchased a lovely Auto S2, changed the light seals, found a suitable battery to replace the old mercury jobs and adjusted the ASA a little to compensate and am blown away by the pictures. The only slight issue is the length of time it takes the rangefinder images to line up together when I focus on infinity. I'm sure this is simply down to gumbed up lubricants (whale oil apparently?) and sometimes it is fine. Close focusing is very quick. Someone on here had the same problem but after using it a while the issue went away. I hope this is the case with mine as I'm probably the first person to use it in twenty years but wondered if it is the sort of job I could attempt myself and just where abouts inside the camera I would need to clean?

Hi Stuart, if you remove the top plate you will see the linkage, for lack of a better term, which moves the rangefinder mechanism and focus patch. There's a spring attached to the linkage, make sure it's in place. I'm wondering if the spring in your camera is weak or misaligned, therefore not allowing for proper tension ?
