I bought my daughter one (the messy, disorganized, sloppy, daughter) when she went off to college. I went to see her and she said that her camera wasn't working. After, you know the drill: did you do this or that? She said, 'No but I did spill 7-up on it.' It was a great camera but I should have given it to the, neat, organized, conscientious, reasonable daughter.
Hey, your daughter is just fine as it is, don't blame her (our kids are mirrors of us, aren't they? so I think when my daughter isn't as organized as I'd like). I bought Konica POP for mine - focus free thing with kid proof interface (no tiny buttons etc.)

You are right, but she also destroyed three cars I bought for her. Still, as she says 'at least I didn't go bad.'

Get her a Nikonos.

anyone know the difference between the BM-201 and BM-301, apart from the looks? I read somewhere that the build quality on the later BM's aren't good - true?

Apart from body diffs, infinity lock on 301 comes to mind. Shutter speeds - 3.5-1/500 for MB-201, and 7.5-1/360 for BM-301. Lens is same 35/3.5 in 4/4 configuration.
jsrockit, didn't really got used to it?

I used it once and then at sat there while I used my Leicas. I'm not really a film guy anymore and not really a point and shoot guy either. I like my f/stops and shutter speeds.

It says: Big Mini SR, and underneath BM-100.
And it has a mode called "B", with a fixed 2 (or 2.5) second exposure time.
Besides that it is obviously less equipped than my BM201...
cheers

The normal BM's have a 35/3.5 lens and the F's have a 35/2.8. This seems to have a 34mm lens? Interesting.

BM series were rather extensive, some of them were:
Big Mini JR BM-20 [34mm F3.5]
Big Mini SR BM-100 [34mm F4.3]
Big Mini BM-201 [35mm F3.5]
Big Mini HG BM-300(301/302) [35mm F3.5]
Big Mini BM-301 [35mm F3.5]
Big Mini F [35mm F2.8]
My first Konica were A4 model, called also "prototype of BigMini (BM-201)".

Flash?
Flash?
Anyone know how to turn off the flash on a BM-300 permanently?
It is cumbersome to have to turn off the flash with the tiny button each time I turn the camera on.
It would be great if there were a way to keep it off, similar to the GR series cameras...
TIA!

Not possible. But then BM also doesn't cost close to GR.
Nice thing is you can set flash OFF while camera also is switched off. When you press ON button, BM will turn on and retain preset flash mode. Sure, it will reset after you switch camera off, but that's much better than nothing.

This is great- essentially what I needed, thanks for the tip!
Also nice to see Konica placed a little nub on the strap to help push these tiny buttons.

So I bought a Konica A4 (big mini predecessor) and it's not working. It was advertised as working but doesn't do anything when I press the on button. Since it seems that around the internet there are more than a few people with a broken ribbon cable in theirs , is there any way I can know it will work if I buy a new battery , like shouldn't the back-up battery at least signal that the main one is dead? Thanks.

So I did this , bought a back-up because it's cheaper , poped it in , the LCD worked , bought the big battery , and now it's working perfectly. I'm already in love.
