Konica Hexar Problem

Hi.

My Hexar has begun to show signs of what I assume is the dirty/sticky shutter release issue. I was preparing to undertake the solution but now the camera constantly blinks '0' in the LCD and I cannot even get the camera to focus let alone get to the stage of 'half shutter depression.'

I lent the camera to a friend for a couple of weeks whilst I've been busy working and I don't know if its simply a case of the battery power being too weak - it was a new battery with around six rolls through it before I lent it out, or if there is a larger issue at play.

If anyone has experienced this before I'd be hugely grateful for any advice.

Check the mid-roll rewind button to see if it's stuck. I'd also try a new battery as well.

I'll get a new battery and check that as soon as I can, do you think the mid-roll rewind may be causing the '0' to be blinking? At the moment there isn't a film in there if that may make a difference.

Yeah, looks like it was simply the rewind button got jammed down a little which is great. Not so great is it is certainly suffering the sticky button issue. Oh well, I suspected as much.

I've done the sticky button fix twice on two different Hexars, both times went extremely smoothly and I could never be accused of being mechanically inclined.

I've just, successfully, done my first sticky button fix and I'm far far from being mechanically minded. Other than being very very careful when taking the little tab off its a piece of cake.

I now have a fully functioning Hexar and I'm over the moon.

Please share some work from your over the moon sortie, Simon. (Unless you prefer showing off your unmechanically inclined Hexar repair, in which case there should be a yootoob link with lots of shots of clean fingernails fussing with screws etc.)

I'm looking forward to getting it back in use Robert, unfortunately the results will need to wait until my two (not quite working) scanners become one fully working scanner. Patience may or may not be a virtue but it does make life more bearable 🙂

With regard to finding information out about the fix there was a thread here that was very useful but the pictures had been deleted/lost from whatever hosting site they were stored on, so YouTube came to the rescue after typing in 'Hexar sticky shutter fix.'

Perhaps I should have had the forethought to provide my own idiots guide - however, I needed to be sure I wasn't so much of an idiot that I couldn't follow simple procedures first 😉
