Hi All,

I love the Konica S2 so much that I bought another one off Ebay. It arrived looking great, with a clear viewfinder (unlike my first one), but guess what the shutter won't fire, and of course the winding lever is cocked/stuck. The seller has been great and offered to take it back for repair or refund, but I'm wondering if I should try to fix it myself. Any ideas out there? If the shutter button can be pushed down all the way but the shutter doesn't fire, is that a stuck shutter or something else?

Thanks in advance for your guidance. --John K.

Hi John, it is possible that the camera got locked with the self timer. If it was this the problem you should set the M X selector to M in order to let the self timer fire, then it should work ok. The first time I got my camera had this problem I thought it was completily broken I hope you can fix it, I love shooting with mine.

Shutter is stuck. A very common problem. Just open up the front bezel (use a pair of needle nose pliers or school/drafting compass if you don't have a lens spanner) and unscrew the front element cell. A little lighter fluid or alcohol on the front blades and cleaning with q-tips usually gets it working again.
