Leica M Monochrom: best pics

I do not go oft through this thread because ...I do not need another camera and this thread could be dangerous !

But I have to say that when I visit this thread I find beautiful images, strong and interesting both form the pure visual aesthetic and the content.

Congrats to everyone posting photos here!

Many thanks for the words of encouragement Robert!

It's nice stopping in here....while my MM sits in the closet waiting for it's turn in the rotation -this inspires me! Anyway really fine work here as always.

Just picked up a 125mm f/2.5 Hektor lens. Really a neat lens in its design.

When I got it I thought the focus was really weird -- if you look at this shot you'll see what I mean:

Wide open at f/2.5 on the Monochrom 246:

It almost looked like something from a 1930's Summar or a 73mm Hektor wide open. Plus it didn't want to focus at infinity. I sent it to the Camera Wiz himself, Frank Marshman, and he gave it the overall spit'n'polish. At first he couldn't figure out why it was focusing the way it was. But he finally came to the conclusion that perhaps - just perhaps - the rear element had been installed backwards by a previous repair person. He tried that and.....

Yeah just a bit of a difference! So now the lens focuses perfectly, infinity is now where it should be, and all is right with the world. Of course the photos are likely going to be a lot more boring than when the rear element was backwards!

Using a red filter to enhance contrast . . I liked the reflections in the restaurant window on the left.

I would keep working with the red filter... Lovely contrast
Beautiful gradation of tonal range, yummy good Alberti !

Working remotely at our Canadian wilderness property -- not sure if these are too dark, too contrasty or not, but we'll give it a try. I'm sure I'll have to work on them again when I'm back in front of my large screen computer.

All taken with the wonderful 35/2 goggled V1 Summicron, all at about f/2.8:
