M5 Voigtlander 35 1.2

Very satisfying to see this, as your M5’s foster dad. And of course the thread is as satisfying as ever. I’m just over at the M7 playground...and the M4’s...and the M-D’s....

I have a black M5 from Sherry (CLA'ed by her, third lug installed and new cover) and use both the 35f1.2 and 50f1.1 which balance well on the M5. However, they are both huge lenses so I have the 35f2.8 C Biogon and 50 Summicron for travel. I have never had duplicate lenses in the same focal length before and only have duo lenses in 35 and 50.
I would strongly recommend the 35f2.8 C Biogon as a companion for the 35f1.2, especially for travel or where the super fast apertures are not needed. Film HP5 or TriX, an M5 body and a 35 or 50-what else do you need?

Haha athat’s Great, I love it. I still wish you signed the camera somewhereas your M5’s foster dad.
Before you gave it to me. When I visit Cali I will be sure to bring a silver sharpie.

Actually that was my plan. I was going to keep it simple and do a 2 focal length (35mm and 21mm) 3 lens line up. But then late one night I heard the siren call and next thing I know the postman is delivering a Chrome Zeiss C 50 1.5....

Ya, it is amazing how all those extra lenses can sneak into your equipment cabinet. I have gone through the GAS and then deGAS cycles several times in my 52 years of playing with cameras. Luckily, I could always afford it.
I buy a Leica and think I will be happy with two lenses, say a 35 and 90. Well, before I know it there are several more in the cabinet and the original reason I went with Leica (small easy to travel with) has gone by the wayside. I am off to Scotland next week so what lenses and cameras do I take. Well, as my wife says deciding keeps me away from the bars for a couple weeks.

j scooter: It sounds like adding a 75 or 90 and you will have a great lineup. I would have said "complete M lineup" but I don't know if anyone ever completes their Leica GAS.

The times when I just take a Leica (or any camera) for a stroll/hike etc with just one lens are so much more relaxing and dare I say creative, than when I load up a bag with a bunch of lenses.
