Leica M6 - Exposures Using ISO Dial Settings

...so I was out shooting yesterday with film speed rated at ASA 400 but I forgot to reset my ISO dial and accidentally left it on 800, and assuming that the internal meter is accurate, does that mean that my photos will be underexposed?

By one stop. If it's BW you can increase the development time a bit. But with either color or BW negative film it isn't catastrophic. With slide film it's a bit of a problem but you can get the lab to push it by a stop.
