LEICA M8, 1st GOLDEN TICKET!!!

Thanks Marcos. Right now, it looks like the 100% crops, etc. will be in Part Three but thanks for the interest in the narrative itself. Narrative is important also because the final proof is in the print and one can't show the print via the web. Also, as you say, one forms impressions after looking at hundreds of pictures (or more) and theses, of course, can't all be reproduced in the article.

Best,

Sean

While I understand the importance of narrative, I hope that you will make available your DNGs for your first report. I am particuly interested in the performance of the camera at hi ISO numbers and in order to evaluate the performance I need to run the RAW files thru my own noise reduction software with settings that I choose. Post process JPEGs won't do it for me.

This has got to be one of the most confusing threads I have ever read... in any forum
It reads like an article from Erwin Puts, a true deconstructive piece of "art": it begins somewhere, it takes you somewhere else, lots of nonsentences, verbs in the stupor tense, lots of neuron-firing noise, and in the end few words got to the point.

What was I saying?

Hi Rex,

If, at the time that review is published, there aren't already other RAW files available to download, I'll try to make them available to subscribers as part of the review.

Cheers,

Sean

All I can say on that respect, from very limited hands-on experience (still kicking myself for not bringing along a *@!% SD card), the noise at the highest setting was good. I am pretty confident that this can be handled with RAW processing, like with ACR, just like you would need to with other camera's raw files (edit: I have the Canon cameras in mind when I say this).

I have only two things to say about this thread.

1. The butler did it.

2. M8? Seal? Whatever. PUT HEIDI ON THE LINE!!

I will now dissolve back into obscurity (one of the benefits of not being a celebrity).

Yeah that about sums it up...

I guess some nice M8 samples... perferably street photos would completely justify the confusion

I think

R.i.p.

R.i.p.

Methinks this thread has finally suffered cardiac arrest
But while it was going it certainly was the best...
The M8 in the hands of Seal and the delectable Ms Klum
Is now just a memory ... and I for one feel so glum!

Somebody should write a book

I have seen simular posts when other new cameras are close to being released. I simply do not understand why someone whould make an announcement that they have a M8 and not post images. If he was told not to post images, he should also have not annouced he had one.

No images, no camera.

I still want to see pictures

so wait ... was there actually an M8 involved with this thread or was the whole thing a huge hoax ... even the camera

I feel like I just experienced a bizaare Hitchcock plot

I wonder what Ascender's motivation behind it was all about.: attention seeking; devillment; self promotion; M8 visibility; amusement; challenge; frustration ...........???

Maybe Ascender works for Epson (not).

What about just the desire to share his excitement?

I have no clue. This thread, as said, is about as confusing as any other I've ever seen. I don't think I've read more than 4 pages of it and I'm not caring to continue.

Sean Reid has promised to explain how he knows this was all a hoax. Perhaps that post, when it comes, will provide some proper closure to this thread.

Not a hope, sadly, justification next I’m afraid

I don't understand your post.

I'm in the midst of writing Part 2 of my M8 review series. In a few days, when time allows, I'll explain why I realized this thread was a hoax. In the meantime, others who've realized that might want to explain as well.

Cheers,

Sean

got myself an invite when the local agents did a Leica launch.
Looks like you were at the Singapore launch. So was I - do you mean they let you slip your own SD card into the M8 they had there? I didn't even thing of asking.:bang:

Still I'm planning to go and see Andrew at the local Leica rep's and see if he will let me try one out...
