lets me face the facts . the m9 at $7000.00 can't buy me artistic vision:bang: i'll still have lousy shots, so the cheap camera allows me to still blame the tools and say " if only i had a leica m9 & summilux " so which is best for me ? the holga .....i still have fun :D
happy new year everyone

In the all too common spirit of helpful advice on RFF, i.e. not answering the question at all: a Gandolfi 12x15 inch...

Cheers,

R.

I know I can make my M9 pics (if I had one) look like images from a Holga, but not the other way around. So, I would have to go with the M9 if you put a gun to my head. But for pure enjoyment? It's pretty tough to beat the surprises you get when developing film out of a Lo-fi plastic machine!

I am curious about the number of Holga owners vs. M9 owners here on RFF.

Put me down for owing several Holgas and no M9s.

Whichever turns you on..but I must say, I find it very strange when I see tons of m9 photos with artificial vignetting and lots of fake grain. Those guys might as well switch to holga.

And the M9 hate continues...

It's not hate. The M9 represents the finest quality piece of gear available. Contrast it to the worst. It's a goofy question, but I take it to be something like, "how much gear do you need to take a great picture?" I didn't vote, but I believe the answer is that creative people can make great art from whatever tools and materials they have available.

On the other hand, the intense creative focus of a great mind can be kinked a bit if the front element falls out as the shutter snaps.

The best camera is the one you have with you. Cliché perhaps because you can't be holding a piece of junk and expect results but depending on your creative vision, it can be captured with a Holga or a Leica or a simple DIY pinhole made out of cardboard which is even cheaper than the Holga. There are numerous photographers which have proven this. The camera is a tool and no matter how much it costs if the person using it doesn't have a clue it doesn't matter how much they spent. However, everyone.. can have a Holga. I do ;)
