Two stores in Western Chicago suburbs have been burgled at night, one 1000 yards from a police station.

Nikon equipment was the main target.

One displays nothing but used equipment and D3100 and D5100 cameras. The better stuff is in a vault, literally a vault. Not quite bank class, but close. Windows are now unbreakable glass.

It is the economy stupid.

On 15 Dec 2002 Leica France was robbed.
They took:
- 9 R8
- 3 R9
- 6 M6TTL
- 12 M7
- something like 100 lenses
- many other items...

All serial numbers were made public at the time.
Hope they will do the same for the Russian ones.

I guess at least the robbers acknowledge Leica as an expensive camera brand. And interestingly they did left out the S2 and Nocti. Anyway, it's just sad to hear the news. Hope they got caught.

Forget it. Leica is not special and this is a 100% generic store robbery. They'll serve some time in a jail cell and that's it.
