Congratulations on the X2 and btw, which color did you order?
Thanks Dave (and others). I hope I did the right thing here.

Thanks Dave (and others). I hope I did the right thing here.I ordered the silver one. I will buy the OVF too, but haven't yet. Looks fancier to my eyes (the silver vs. black).
Now I have to go sell some stuff (M9, all lenses, X100, etc).

Ha, that silver is a looker, isn't it?
Just hang onto any body parts, you might need 'em someday. Are you going to buy that really nice brown Leica case? Or a Luigi?

No, I don't use cases. Just a black label silk neck strap (the most comfortable for me without looking ridiculous) and an OVF. I'm pretty minimal. No cases, grips, or thumbs-up things for me. Not sure when it'll ship though.

I hate you dave. Now I want one >:C
I've always thought the x-series was rubbish, though... a little more research leads me to think that I was wrong. One may argue that it's overpriced... though, when has a digital leica ever been reasonably priced? And when has that ever stopped anyone
I feel as if you pay for the feel of using a Leica, not to have the latest and greatest, which to me is more than worth it.
If I ever get the money, I'll buy myself one... been looking for a nice compact to carry around when my neck's too tired to carry the M8

John, the black label silk strap! Is that similar to the A&A? Is it small enough to fit the lugs and smaller rings on the X1? If so.....
then, I need to see one and order it myself! (As soon as I sell a couple of things at the local shop, of course)
Patrick,
Heh, heh....
Another one bites the dust... the X2, the X2 will... rock you!

Dave... the black label straps fit all of my cameras... even the X1. I would imagine the X2 is no different. They make one that is longer than the typical A&A version (39mm) which is why I go Black Label... I get them locally at Photo Village. Mine looks like:

Excellent! You have just convinced me!

Dave, just so you know black label makes two lengths... one is 39mm, the other is longer. I don't see that specified on the photo village site either. The strap is a bit overkill for the X2, but I don't like wrist straps or thick / short leather straps.

I suppose I could just call and ask them. The black strap is very elegant.
Sorry for any contribution to the fatal GAS...Grrr, X2 order placed... couldn't resist.

Nice! that was quick!
I'm still debating whether to get rid of the drf for one (& free up some cash in the process).
Make sure to report back once you get it in your hands. From the discussion in the meetup, we're looking for similar things wrt the x2 - would love to hear your experience.

I have been thinking of dumping my M8 for the X2 (and an M6) to mainly shoot street. I like that it is small, hopefully has good ISO performance compared to the M8, and I actually don't mind the accessory EVF thing. Is it the exact picture you see when looking through this? I think it is a bit of a rip off at $600.
Love to see some reviews come in, other than the MingThein review which everyone is referencing on the net. Maybe wait until Steve Huff gets one!? I also like how Leica have not increased the price on this, as they have every other god damn camera or lens...

I don't really care about X2, but today came across a guy on my Flickr posting X2 photos so I thought I'd serve common good and post the link, since you're all interested in real life images. (The guy is quite possibly RFF member).

Hey, thanks...I like Mr. Hoveeto and his video! Would love for him to join in on the discussion where he may be!

No problem, will do. I'm not the type to post the day after getting the camera though. It takes me awhile to get used to it and make something worth posting.

I would got to a store and test one before you did this... the X2 may not be your thing if you expect it to feel anything like the M8. The EVF is showing you exactly what is front of you. You may be able to use the Olympus VF-2 with the X2.

I'm pretty sure they knew better than to do this. $2000 is already a lot for this camera...so instead they made the EVF and charged crazy money for it.

John,
I sent an email to Photo Village inquiring about the longest silk strap they have and hope to hear back this week.

That's good. Let me know what they say. Expensive, but well worth it for me. I can wear it all day and not feel any pain at all... no digging or rope burns, etc.
A lot of different images of the camera (not results) here:

Leica just confirmed to me that all X1 accessories will fit on the X2 too. Handgrip and batteries are identical. This is good news... and brings me one step closer to selling my X1 and upgrade.
