Certainly not indicative of 6400 in other photographers' posts. Go back to my link.

Cannot afford a pay-site so haven't read Sean Reid's report. If anyone has his review summary, please let us know.

I don't know. I tried holding the x1 for a few shots in the shop when I was last there (Yesterday). It feels a bit to slippery for me. I agree Sort of like.. "digital Barnack" but, I felt worried to cradle it around the body and to the base of the lens when at the ready (extended). You know like you might hold a camera at the ready. Maybe with a thumbs up or half case with a grip. It can't just be me. The camera is a bit too cute in it's design. A grip on the shutter side would be most welcome.
The hand grip made by Leica, or a Thumbs Up REALLY help to give a secure grip. I tried both and kept the Leica grip. I got leery of the way the Thumbs Up torqued the shoe on top of the camera. I wondered whether it would loosen it up too much in the long term.

Sean gives it a good review, saying its most direct competitor is the X100, while comparing it directly also with the Ricoh and new Pentax and putting it in context with NEX etc. The X2's AF is now like the X100, about 2x better than X1, while manual settings are faster and easier on the Leica. But he wishes it had the X100 viewfinder......Cannot afford a pay-site so haven't read Sean Reid's report. If anyone has his review summary, please let us know.![]()

Thank you, Doug...
I actually prefer the external VF with scale focus...quick, easy, and the result is also aesthetically similar to the IIIF with an external VF. A pain to take off and put on? Not really, nor more so than taking of my Levi's and putting them on in the mornings, but they still look like Levi's, still work like Levi's and they are absolutely Levi's.
Some high ISO stuff:

Thanks, John....those samples are impossible for me to decipher (just not a geek, I guess?), so I will wait for real world postings and the ones I have seen already, especially by Mingthein are superb.
One thing about that link, the article on the page preceding the photos shows the X2 and X1 side by side. It appears that the top plate and maybe the bottom plate are slightly thicker, maybe giving the X2 a small increase in both height and weight? Hardly noticeable if it is...

speaking of aesthetics - One thing about the X2 I am not crazy about is the slightly raised shoe mount vs the flat on the X1. Wish they kept it the same, but I am sure there is a reason for it, most likely to accommodate the EVF.

Yes, but it will grow on me over time for sure. Just imagine if they had to accommodate an internal VF.
BTW, anyone else tried shooting without the LCD on? It is almost a shock, I had to think again!

I liked this video on the X2:

It seems to me, as I whittle my equipment desires down to the barest essentials, that the competition is between having the M9 fitted with a Color Skopar 35mm f/2.5 and the X2. The M9 wins on the larger format for more focus zone control and the fact that the viewfinder is built in. The X2 wins on being smaller, lighter, and having AF. I love the simplicity of the controls on both these cameras—having spent the weekend traveling and shooting with my GXR and two lenses, it does make a substantive difference to how I see.
Hmm hmm hmm. I may have to have an X2. Next year, tho: I'd rather put a lot more time into using the M9 with just a 35 or 40mm lens first.

Looking for filters, macro capability, and overall cool pimp mods?

Using the Kiwi adaptor with a step-up adaptor, you can add the close-up lenses very easily.
Surprisingly affordable, and easy to assemble or reverse.

Well, he didn't mention anything about the AF sucking still...so I guess Leica did fix this.
Grrr, X2 order placed... couldn't resist.

Cool!
When can I expect to be served with papers?
John, this is like sheet music where each post is a note, high or low, and then there are pauses in between. Short and long notes (posts) with those longer pauses eliciting emotion and anticipation until a post like yours, brings it to a crescendo! Then, follows other pauses, notes and even more crescendoes!!!
Who can resist this?
And that, your Honor, is my affirmative defense!
Congratulations on the X2 and btw, which color did you order?

after the huge x100 impact , the x2 has created a lot of expectation.....i guess the prices of the x1 will raise again and it will be granted the "position" it deserves between the universe of cameras....

Very nice, John. I'm still waiting for a Leica response to my inquiry about the X1 handgrip and batteries fitting again on the X2. Looking forward to a nice black X2 with stiffer dials and faster AF... and hope to soon read your first user feedback here...
