Wow, are they shipping the x2 inside this case????
What a charm!!!!
I want one!!!!![]()
No, the X2 is shipped in a very cool display box with drawers. This case is available separately along with two others, a handgrip, an EVF, handstrap, etc.

I suppose you could even hold the camera upside down to get shots well over one's head.

The EVF is indeed decent enough and VERY practical, but man - it does look ugly on the X2. Leica might have gone the extra mile and bring something that looked a bit better (and maybe boost the performance - the EVF is not really new after all). But there is no free lunch I guess.
But as I felt attracted to X1 I feel attracted to X2 ... but most probably will not get one ... again ...

I shot a whole party yesterday with the X1. It is true unfortunately that I did miss shots because of shutter lag. It is the least attractive part of it. Kids showing a perfect picture on your lcd, but when you press that shutter, there's just enough time for them to move around their heads and leave the frame. The X2 is hopefully much better at this, and I'll use it with my exisiting OVF which is prettier and smaller than the EVF.

I have found that with any live view camera, trying to use the LCD with fast moving anything really sucks. So, I just frame it (especially the grandkids) and watch them for the correct moment to press the shutter release. Anticipating what can happen helps too.
I really dislike live view when outdoors as well. That is why I use the inexpensive 35mm VF that I picked up from Paul. Works great.
I must say that I would like to try the X2 with the EVF, though. I am open-minded to new technology as always.

I'll want both viewfinders. I know that already. The optical is my preference when doing most shooting, the EVF is essential for critical focus and low angle work. I use the LCD too.
The more options the better.

Yes, I'm afraid that when I buy that X2 I'll want the evf too

Exactly how I feel... as long as the olympus one works with the X2. I'm not paying $550 for it.

The olympus one does work with the X2. Steve Huff put up a post about it.

Indeed, there's a thread on the L-Camera forum that shows the Olympus EVF working on the X2. It makes me wonder if Leica got it from Olympus, or if both Olympus and Leica got it from the same manufacturer?

I read somewhere they both get them from Epson.

Yes, these EVFs are manufactured by Epson.

Hey, you guys see who can post receiving the X2 first! And then, we'll see who can post images first! But, remember, you will have to start your own "Post Your Leica X2 Images" thread.

So if this thing can use the Olympus EVF2, are the electronics (and perhaps the optics) manufactured by Olympus, rather than (as one might expect) by Panasonic?

Not found any information about the technical specs but I am getting the feeling that it is all from Epson. Still researching that and will post soon, hopefully.
Interestingly, Ming has another post on his blog with yet more photos from his X2:

Interesting. But kind of sends a torpedo into the side of that whole "Mercedes-Honda" analogy that you introduced upthread.
