I have a Leitz-Minolta Cl with a 40/2 that takes 40.5 filters. What is the best replacement hood for this? The original is in bad shape. I was looking at a B&W hood on B&H, but it is for a 50mm. (I guess I could try it.)
B+W Hood
Do you think that would work? I'm mainly interested in a slim or collapsable hood to keep things thin.
Thanks,
Mark

After mine gave out, I used an old Voigtlander hood. Works perfectly.

Heavystar 40.5 hood on 40/2..
Heavystar 40.5 hood on 40/2..
I got this reply recently from heavystar when I asked (via e*ay messaging) whether the 40.5mm hood he lists would fit the 40/2
"-Item: New Metal 40.5mm Ventilated Lens Hood & Cap Nikon S (7562564815)
This message was sent while the listing was active.
heavystar is the seller.
"some of our users said it fits on leica CL lens. but to my knowledge, CL lens uses different size(series 5.5). "
Thanks

I have the heavystar 40.5 mm hood and it works just fine on the 40 mm Minolta Rokkor lens.

The Leica Summicron 40/2 uses Series 5.5 thread. The Minolta M-Rokkor 40/2 uses 40.5 thread. Same lens but different barrel.

Thanks for the clarification RML. Looks like I'll have to consider the Cameraquest offering for my 40 SummicronRML said:The Leica Summicron 40/2 uses Series 5.5 thread. The Minolta M-Rokkor 40/2 uses 40.5 thread. Same lens but different barrel.

Mark,
I have the Heavystar 40.5mm on my Minolta m-rokkor 40/2 and it works just fine. They are very well made and inexpensive.

Thanks JAAPV for the HeavyStar link. That is some pretty good loking stuff at reasonable prices.
Thanks everyone for responding.

the cameraquest hoods are great!
i use the 40mm ones on both 35 & 50 mm lenses with a 40mm thread size.
they are metal and quite compact.
