Am I right in thinking the lens cap would be an A36

It is very capable if almost wide open and all way down to f8.
But it is better to have object at some distance, mine wasn't great for close focusing wide open.

I think, this one was close to wide open.

So the rule with that lens is "somewhat hazy 12.5".

Anyway...The sharpness sweets pot is between f/5.6-f/8

Summar with Y2 filter and Agfa/Rollei Superpan 200

There is also a sweet spot of sharpness at full aperture.

Leica IIIc, Summar 50mm f/2, Tmax400.

I guess there are two sides to every story. I had my 1936 Summar professionally cleaned, but it produces cloudy images nonetheless. My experience with this lens has retired my Summar-lust.
