I'm doing some lens modification and just want to make sure I've got this right.

The focal distance is the same no matter what type of camera I'm using, right? I've got a 60mm lens, and that lens is at infinity focus when the front element is roughly 2" from the film plane on my 35mm SLR. Now if I take that same lens and try to mount it on my 35mm RF, it's got to be the same distance from the film plane in order to focus, right?

An unrelated, also dumb question regarding angle of view: with a pinhole, the angle of view will be wider (at the same film size) as the hole gets closer to the film plane, correct? In other words, a pinhole mounted on a 35mm RF will give me a wider angle than a pinhole on a 35mm SLR, because the body cap (pinhole) to film plane is shorter on the RF.

cool, thanks for the chart - that's good info. although i don't know if i can make a hole that small (or how i'd measure it anyway).

cheers!
