How is the Pre-asph Summilux in terms of distortion?
I have sold my canon 50mm 1.4 which is otherwise an excellent lens because of its level of distortion, and I wonder how is the lux in that matter (I frankly doubt it can be sharper than the canon)
Yes, this is true. The version 2 is completely corrected for coma, but at the cost of severe barrel distortion. Version 1 does not distort, but shows coma at the bigger apertures.
Personally I would choose version 1. I do not like the distortion at all, therefore I no longer use version 2.
The only way to avoid both abbarations is to use the aspherical Summilux.
At the current prices, I'll live with F/2 and push my film in extreme situations. (or try Delta 3200 one day?)
Meanwhile, thanks Roland and Erik for your insights.
