As lame as it sounds, I like how the red dot goes with the red of the lens release button and red soft release...
Plus I find the text quite ugly and dated, whereas the red dot goes with the camera quite well. I much prefer it positioned in the vulcanite then blaring out from the top like on m6s etc.
My hand covers the dot during actual photo taking anyway.

Finally after a year and 2 months I finally got my first Leica. She is just a standard M8 but I am surprisingly proud/happy to be able to post a pic of it here. LOL. Shown with Zeiss 35 2.8 and photo take with an iPhone.

Great shot! guess the Summi is also from Wetzlar ....(although I can't recognize a serial at the front - Canadian mostly have no serial number at the front ring)
