What's the serial on your M6TTL, Michael ? As far as I remember the last 200 or so were made out of brass.
Nice gear.
Hello Roland, the serial number is 27583xx

I have noticed about .0001 inch of Brassing on my Chrome M3 (I used a loupe to see it). Starting to get excited.

Your's is from the last batch then, Michael, before the last 999 special editions. The last batch in 2001 was 5000 cameras from 2755001 to 2760000; I've read some other statements about brass tops on some of these (using M7 top plates?), obviously that's the case for yours.

I hate half cases because they change the dynamic of holding the camera. then I found this super thin, super soft lambskin half case by A & A. Like a glove.

Akiva, did you try the last version of the Leica case?
It's really not bad.

That's beautiful. Unconditional love. Wait, is that a baby in the background?

It's not like a glove. regular ER case thickness, but has small bumps that help gripping (front and back for the thumb)
Also, the former version had layers of cardboard added in the base to make enough room under the ISO cut to put the attach (pretty idiotic solution for such a minor issue). it resulted in added height which was kind of ugly and unnecessary. On the new version the attach is on the side.
But I think it boils down to whether you like the added thickness or not. I have come to like it, and now I feel the bare camera doesn't offer enough grip.

Only received my first Leica yesterday and already madly in love with it, starting the conversion from Canon dSLR...
It's a modest M6, there are many like it but this one is mine![]()
Very nice black M6. And .85x viewfinder! Perfect for 50mm lenses. I came from Nikon DSLRs, but those are long gone now
