thats cool you had a brass one. I have 100% felt a zinc top plate one. your set up is epic! It reminds me of the titanium f3hp from nikon. I had one of those. I think my dream camera would be a leica Mp. its a mix of all my favorite features from the m3, m2, and M6. my second choice would be the Ma. its soo awesome they they came out with that camera this day in age. I wonder why they did not re-manufacture the Mr4 for that one. looks like one would work on it. Right now I am looking for a 50mm. I have a 90 f2 (the huge one) and the voigtlander skopar 35mm. I am actually leaning twards the zeiss planar. good reviews. choice 2 is the voigtlander 50 1.1 because I shoot a lot of low light bar scenes. will see what comes up first.
The zeiss 1.5 is the sonnar. I thought about that lens too but I feel like better options. the planar is a f2 lens its i have heard its a good competition for the 50mm summicron. but I have also heard its more of a modern look that I am not sure I am going for. I want a 50 that is good for portraits too. the voigtlander 50mm 1.1 is about the same price used and new as the planar. it just has such polarizing reviews. also I feel like its hard to find examples from this one shot on film. a lot of people in reviews focus on how big and heavy it is. they should try hiking 15miles up a mountain with a nikon f2as and a 50mm 1.2. I like that it does not have a focusing tab i find using those annoying because I am coming from slrs. focusing might be difficult at 1.1 but really I would shoot it at f1.4-2.8. Ironically both the zeiss and voigtlander lenses are made by cosina. I have read good things about the 7 artisans lens. not sure I like that its from china.. not to sound snobby. still might end up with one. hopfully I will get my tax refunds soon and I will pull the trigger on one haha. will post a pic once I get it.
Not wanting to get too far off topic, but the latest CV 1.5/50 is the bees knees of 50s. Nice contrast, no focus shift, beautiful out of focus rendering, great price.
not off topic at all I actually thought about that lens. I will have to take it in consideration. not too many of them pop up on the used market. lucky they are not too expensive compared to a leica equiv. the only thing holding me back is the shape is a little goofy to me. I kinda like the older ltm version look. but I think the ltm version is a different optical configuration.
