Let's see your Leica M

Interesting! How much did it cost to put the rangefinder in?
I mentioned to Youxin that I'd like an M2 w/o the preview lever, and a little bit later he offered me the converted M1 for $680.

M1 with M2 VF/RF (Thus no frameline preview or self timer).

I like it! I always wanted to ditch the self timer on my early M3, but I never could get up the guts. Stu

Stu,

your avatar with Shane McGowan pouring his bottle of ale into his collar while drinking cracks me up everytime :D

Graduated from college and enslaved in society, I wanted to buy a classic Leica (and my first as well). I'm getting the Jupiter-3 50mm f/1.5 later this week. This should be a modest but nice setup, good to explore decent RF's

Here's my starter M kit. Saved up for quite some time for it. The M2 was a user level, has a bash-in near the eye-piece, a loose strap lug and the vulcanite is coming off in about 8 separate places. I also notice that photos taken at 1/15 or 1/8 have a strong band of seeming light leakage on the right hand side of my photos. Could this mean a sticky shutter return at these speeds?

Lorenzo, I also have an M6TTL 0.58 VF. I'm trying to decide between the 21/2.8 and 25/2.8 Biogon. For sure I would need the external VF with the 21mm, but can you get away without it for the 25mm?

It depends a lot whether you wear glasses or not. My glasses don't allow me to keep the eye very close to the small finder of the M. What I see is a 28mm frame without the corners, and if I move the eye around a bit I can guess the coverage of the 25mm lens.
Personally, when I chose the 25 I did it because I was looking for something wider than a 28 and that didn't reveal itself too much as a wideangle lens.
Anyway, coming back to your question, you can use the 25mm without an external finder even with glasses. It's still faster than to use an external vf, from my point of view. If you don't wear them, anyway, you'll find it much easier.

I have put a 0.85 magnifier to the viewfinder of my 0.58MP and use it with my 24mm elemarit. It helps.

After a couple months of fussing with the small shutter speed dial on my M6 classic, I decided to get a TTL to compare. Although I love the look of the classic that I've posed pics of above, I just find the TTL easier to use.

Just took my M6 and Summilux out from the cabinet to prepare for shooting these 2 days.:)

Here's my new M2, with Rapidwinder, 50mm F1.2 Canon w/hood, Softrelease, Rewind Crank Attachment, and Hair Tie. Notice the haze around the rear element- I intend to have the lens cleaned up soon, probably by Sherrie Krauter. But for the time being, it's -fine-. It's one of my fav lenses.
