I think, though correct me if I'm wrong, that the M4-2 was the first step back into producing a classically styled M shaped body after the M5. I think that most of the production took place in Canada making the Wetzlat M4-2's slightly rarer.

I had this camera some time in my collection (see sig). Mind you, all M4-2's were made in Canada. They put on the Wetzlar mark on the first batch in order to make it more interesting, as to point out that Leica in fact was established in Wetzlar. At the back it is stamped "made in Canada". http://www.flickr.com/photos/zorki_2007/2483033938/in/set-72157606282236657/ What I found special about this camera are its black strap lugs.

Alright... although I've shown the MP before, I thought I might share my latest acquisition to accompany the MP.

I think I am done dreaming for that perfect camera now - took me about 3 years to get the kit that I have always dreamed of .... and I can go on shooting to my heart's content without the fear of scratching the camera/lens as these are both user condition.....
I hear you there. I have a nice but, used M5 that I am not afraid to use and a brand new condition M6 ttl that I am afraid to put the first scratch on so I never use it! I guess I'm just not a collector. I don't like letting it sit unused but, it's so nice i hate to sell it. Still trying to figure out what i will do with the M6:bang:

I guess it's just a different way of looking at it - I was overjoyed when I put my first scratch on my MP-3... guess it marked it as mine...

Interesting lens! Could you post some pictures with it? Maybe make a separate thread?

Hi Krosya,

I've put up some shots on Komura lenses (the Kyoei is a Komura-built lens) here and there on the forum, you can use this link to see one of them, also look for posts by David Murphy and Raid on Komura lenses.

Yes, you are right. I don't know why I treat it like a treasure. I have bought other new cameras and use them as they should be but, they're not Leica's. What it will come down to is I will either sell it or just start using it. Most likely the latter. It was made to be used and not just to be admired. I guess I can do both as I do with my M5.

i think cameras are made to be used. but i have a similar problem
with my m7. came with plastic on bottom, and i know it would be worn out
in a year with the way i use things so i've left it on, but have an urge to rip it off.
