I was playing tourist today in the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul and came across an antique shop with a screw mount Leica on display and an M3. Now I use an M2 and never felt it was an antique.

Hi kshapero it's actually a Tiffen Adapter Ring and a Tiffen Lens Shade. And in between them there's a drop-in Kodachrome Haze Filter. All this came with the lens when i bought it off a RFF forummer.

Great camera! I wonder if I could replace my MP (new version) back plate with one like this? I never use the meter anyway and this makes the camera a lot slimmer.

I just purchased this like new M4-P. I added my 28mm Elmarit, Voightlander light meter, auxulary lens holder with 50mm Summicron current edition. It has it's first roll of Portra in it and I'm looking forward to the results. M4-P by rootbeer2004, on Flickr

While in theory you can, it breaks the circuit for adjusting the ASA film number. No problem, if you do this on an MP and take out the battery as well and work without the internal light meter.

I've shot a few rolls but yet to see the results. I'm slowly getting used to the camera but I already feel like I would like more contrast in the RF patch. The MP upgrade might be in my not so distant future.
Sweet. I've got the same one, and after using it for half a year I'm 100% I will get the viewfinder upgraded soon. The RF patch flares out a lot and I need to work around this issue too often.

Bought the MDa below to replace my Bessa L. It just arrived and I have yet to run film through it.

Well... What's stopping you? Buy some film already

My problem is that I and the camera are in Europe and my lenses are in my home in Japan. Of course, that doesn't technically prevent me from running film through it, but I think I'll wait 'till next week when I return

Current setup, from left to right: Planar 2/50 ZM (chrome), Leica M8 (chrome) with Heliar 15/4.5 II (new M-mount version with RF coupling and 52mm filter thread) and Voigtländer 21mm viewfinder, Biogon 28/2.8 ZM (chrome).
FYI: The picture was taken with an Olympus E-P1 + Lumix 20/1.7 pancake lens, a superb little combo!
