I cannot make my picture appear here no matter what I do, so here is a link. M8 with 28 Avenon, modified M4 with M4-P winder and MR-4 meter.

Looks like the dedicated 12521G Summilux lens hood.
Yep, another name for it is the XOOIM hood. Any ideas as to what it stands for?

Nice ! How do you like the 28/3.5 Avenon ?
I love it. It's tiny and the glass is recessed enough that I usually don't bother with a hood. I actually prefer the lens on the M8 and don't use it that much on the M4, although I have started using it more lately. It isn't the sharpest wide open but when stopped down a little it improves a good deal. I got one of the code-able LTM adapters on eBay and painted in the code so it works great on the M8. It's pretty much the M8's "body cap" lens.
I think it's the smallest 28 aside from the much older Summarons or Hektors.

David fixed my classic up last week too, and did a pretty fantastic job.

Everything appears to be in immaculate condition--including The White Album! Is that an original LP sleeve or something else entirely?

By "cheap" I hope you mean the case and not its content. If the M6 is a cheap souvenir.... Yikes!
hope you got a lens included with that souvenir

Thanks Wes, yes, despite being worn pretty quick and rambling of some Leica users of how much better the older black paint was than the new black paint, it is my most liked finish.
Here is an older picture of the M8.2 - it was my daily shooter for a year.
This seems, to change now slightly, as at the moment, I use the M9 more (I guess, until the "new" rubs off).
Dirk, I really like that M8.2 BP and the "patina'd" look, it would go so well together with my 2000 LHSA M6 TTL 0.85 BP
I've heard that the newer Leica paint doesn't hold up as well as the older paints? (but, at least the 2000 era issue Millennium/LHSA M6's have a really high quality paintjob - the quality on mine reminds me of the old M4 BP, but better/harder?) - That M8.2 looks like it's a nice even wear, so that's a good enough, I like seeing the brass through, I think it's going to take me quite a few rolls to get the paint wear started on my LHSA still...........
MAYBE? the next digital Leica will be a M8.2 BP? - If I can find one that's still under warranty? - I've got like till next April 2012 factory warranty on my regular M8 and then like 4 years Mack warranty on top of that.....I think within the next year, I'll try to accquire something new that's digital and Black Painted!
Enjoy and Happy Shooting!

Just got my first M a few days ago. It's a bit beat up but I don't mind, the mechanicals seem to be fine. Can't wait to go shooting. Here is a pic with my Jupiter 8.

That's a really nice combo and I'd love to get that lens one day. At the moment, I am using the 35/1.4 pre-asph version.

I'm regretting selling the 21/f4, it and the 50/2.5 look very much like your 35. I think the smaller lenses look particularly good on an M.
