Slide the bits of plastic down over the metal rings. Push them down tight!
They look down to me, plus, it looks like Kingqueenknave is using the newer Leica strap (split ring"ish" design).

It is not only the metal rings!
The strap should go backwards through the plastic eyes from the inside, not only one way as on the photo.
This way the strap could slip (though it doesn't happen often but you never know..).

I am also curious - these look not like the newest version of the Leica quick release straps, but the one version before, where the metal rings are not "split ring style" closed, but bend in curves at their openings, looking like a prong.
I have a few of these straps but never used them. Any advice, on how to securely use them (pictures?) would be great.

Cool rig!
do you shoot the 35 on the M3 or is this an M2 in disguise?

If you dont want to drop that beauty I would suggest that you should have a look at the Leica instructions regarding the strap attaching..
Interesting comment. I've been using these straps on my Leicas for years and I've never had a camera drop. What are you referring to? The plastic clips snap into place over the hooks. Seems pretty clear to me.

Please paraphrase the instructions or link.

Looks exactly like all my Leica straps (which are the current type with split ring)...

Exactly the same Jon. It seems to me someone simply jumped to an erroneous conclusion.

This is the confusion:
The below strap hook looks like the one on the MP when attached correctly.
