Let's see your Leica M

Congrats, Abram - and no regrets, please! ;-)

Nope no regrets. It was a good price, from a good friend and I’ve wanted a proper M4 for a while.

I have three cameras and two lenses though so... may need another lens ;)
(Not this year though. I seldom shoot film and digital together anyways so it works out nicely.)

FrankenLeica!

FrankenLeica!

This is what happens when you get given (!) a Leica, but don't run to the rest of the outfit!

Weird Voigtlander Kontur viewfinder, Jupiter 8 lens in a dodgy L39-M adaptor from Hong Kong. And, when I'm feeling really cheap, that's a Chinese body cap with a pinhole made from a soft drinks can.

What I really want to know, though, is do I have to get a red dot to put on it first before I can buy a black dot to hide the red dot?

Just got my M6 classic .85 back from Youxin, who removed the 75 and 135 frame lines for me. MP finder upgrade has also been performed.

As documented in another thread, my M6 .85 was manufactured with the .72 frame line masks so the 50mm frame line is unbroken along the bottom.

The big .85 viewfinder with just a single set of unbroken 50mm lines is amazing. I don't think I'll ever sell this camera as it's one of a kind as far as I know. This and the 50mm summilux aspherical are a match made in heaven.

Nah, you really do need another lens!

I have three bodies and 28, 35, 50 lenses to go with them. Pick the lens(es) you want to shoot with, and take the attached body (bodies). You get to change cameras, not just lenses.

I find it great fun and very satisfying! Of course YMMV, but I do commend it to you.

Cheers,

J :)

I do like the 28/35/50 combo quite a bit. I think I’m preferring 21/35/50 of late though. For the time being I don’t really need anything wider than 35mm but when the time comes I’m going to look pretty seriously at the 21mm Super Elmar.

I love shooting with my SA 21mm

Here is my first rangefinder the M3, fully transformed for any situation. It has the Zeiss 35/2 on, but its usually carrying a Canon 50/1.4 or Zeiss Planar.

And also the new addition to my film family! Black Classic M6, with an also new to the family Summicron 50 (V5?) Pre-aspherical with the integrated hood.
The only issue the camera has is that the slow speeds don't fire half the time, and fire a faster shutter, probably around flash or 1/60. This most likely due to the fact that the original owner that sold it to me, had the camera sitting in a shelf for the past 10 years with zero use. Will most likely be sending it out to Y. Ye for CLA and MP flare mod in the near future. Still have to develop the first test roll to make sure the rest of the speeds are firing properly. Light meter works fine though.

Here is my new to me M6 from above, with its new permanent partner in crime!
I don't know why this combo just feels and looks right! What do you guys think? The lens has a custom tab, custom adapter for filters and hood, and the bayonet has been set up to bring up the 35mm lines.
Also i finally developed the first roll from the camera and all the fast speeds are working properly. Only the slow speeds of 1/4-1/30 miss half the time and shoot faster at around 1/60. Amazing that the cameras light meter and all the other speeds are all working flawlessly, even after just sitting on a shelf for 10 years prior. Speaks of the quality of Leica.
