Let's see your vintage Contax

Also: Your IIa's capping usually is ironically enough - a good sign! It often means that the camera has not been over-tightened, yet. If it had been, the shutter would make a loud "twhack!" noise running at similar speed from 1/250 through to 1/1250, gaining only 10-20% for each stop. A correctly serviced IIa is very, very quiet.
Mine definitely makes a loud clap; noticeably louder than either my Contax II or any of my Leicas at 1/250.

Damn that's no good. So someone goosed it up and it still caps - so it probably is likely factory original with tons of old grease and grime in there.

My quietest (Kanto serviced) IIa's are inaudible in a normal city street at 1/250 you also hardly feel anything moving inside. Which can sometimes lead to me worrying whether the shutter actually correctly fired. (It always has so far, touch wood.)

My II showed up today. But the mail carrier knocked with a feather so I am off to the PO tomorrow to pick it up. Along with a roll of XP-2 and a light meter. Back to where I was 30 years ago. It should be fun. I am pretty sure that Oleg did it right. ;o) Pics when I have the camera.

I like that the Contax II led to the Nikon SLR's eventually, and that it's such a beautifully made camera.

OK, the "Shelf Queen" has come back from Oleg's hands. Just check out how he packs cameras. The camera was inside surrounded by foam peanuts, then blister pack and then wrapped in a baggie. I am amazed at how quiet the shutter is. I have a box from B&H with XP-2 in it and a light meter. This will be fun.

Thank you, Oleg!

This is gonna be fun. Do it!
The Sonnar 5cm f2 is a super nice lens, too. A bit under-appreciated vs the f1.5 the loss of about a stop gives you an even calmer rendition and a good copy is always well worth it.

I have a '42 CZJ 5cm 2.0 and it is almost illegally good. Lovely color and definition; it does not lie. Just a gem, 272nnnn. I have been told that this batch seemingly was sprinkled with pixie dust. It is LTM. I like Sonnars. They are an honest lens.

Yeah the 27x batch lenses are almost all amazing. I have a 271x f2 in Contax mount and it's lovely. Also a Biogon and a f1.5 - it definitely was if not "the" then a high point for lenses from Jena.

Forgive me, that '42 CZJ sn 272nnnn is a 1.5. And just a darling. Check the color and definition it shows to an M9. A really nice combo. The B&B is not a drink this time (Benedictine and Brandy) but Bertele and Barnack, a great pair. Probably shot at f/5.6.
