I got mine from an individual in Japan, I even "google-street-viewed" his address, creepy huh?
It was a body-only with lugs, which are sort of rare on a Standard. The serial no. puts it at 1938, considered a later Model E.
When I got it, all the movable parts worked fine, but sounded "dry", and the covering, while intact, was loose part-way around and felt cracky. I sent it to Youxin right away for a cla and new cover. He said it was in "really good condition".

I got a nice late Elmar in "feet" from Camera West at a good price, the focus lever arm was bent slightly, which I bent back just right.
It is wearing a Industar 22 now, having moved the Elmar over to my IIIc. I hope to buy another Elmar soon, maybe a '38, but it has to be in feet also.
I love carrying it around in my pocket, but feel conspicuous shooting it, because it looks antique. Other than that, it is a lot of fun to own.

Would love to have one one day. For now I settle with the "modern" version of it: IF with SBOOI and Elmar 50/2.8.

Btw, how do you set 1/20 to 1 sec shutter speed on that camera?

You don't. The speeds you see on the selector are what you get (which includes 1/20). Only later did Leica add slow speeds to the cameras. Nice to see one of these w/ strap lugs.

The selector does have 20-1 in the pic. I guess the original dial was replaced with an later model at some point. I wonder what speed you'll get if you set the dial to 20-1. I often wish my IF had a bit slower speed.

Someone else said the speed dial was later, but I think it is original, that in 1938 it would have the same dial as the III's because that was the current production. I've seen lots of Standards with the same dial.

I own a black Standard in which the 50mm finder was removed and replaced with a second accessory finder. I often use a 21mm lens with the Standard.

Raid, you see the Standards with accessory finders a lot, but I don't find a problem at all with the fixed finder for 50mm.

Went in the mail today: a Leica Standard from 1933, postwar converted to a IIf. I don't know if that qualifies😀

Mine came from KEH.com as "Inoperative" ....I so far have not found out what's supposed to be inoperative about it.

With the end of production the larger speed dial they are all marked 20-1 whether the speeds are there or not so I guess original (well that is how I have found it).

Beware if going wide angle, the larger CV finders get in the way of the speed dial.

I have a second accessory holder where the 5cm finder usually is located.

That's a good question!

My understanding: Since the speeds are determined by the amount of rotation of the speed disc below the dial, and how long the first shutter remains open before the second shutter trips closed, there is a slower speed when 20-1 is chosen, I had assumed 1/20.

Normally I'd be kind of *Shrug* about a camera without a RF focusing on it, but that looks so nice...

In regards to the 20-1 option, the first thought in my head was a funny "so... you get any speed from 1/20 to 1 second depending on the mood of the day..."
