The M-E sounded good until I realized it's an M9. They seriously couldn't even change to a better high-iso sensor?

Smart those marketing minds in Solms surely are. Change the name and paint it in grey, and now you have an all-new camera to put onto the shelves.
It goes against the digital rot as if defying law of gravity...smart, no doubt.

It sounded good until they priced it like a M9 too. Good ol Leica strikes again.

Leica M-E: the front lever for selecting the viewfinder frame is missing.

picnic like it's 1999
The only thing that could make any of this interesting to me would be if the M-E was priced under $3000. [
] I'm not holding my breath.

700 EUR less from what I read. Not really entry level though.

Such genius and shamelessness is unheard of. Bravo Leica, made the history again...

Frameline lever is also missing on the new M. On the new M, what's the button next to the rangefinder window for?

LED framelines, and back to 2 meter focusing distance. (which I love on the M8.2)

It is really shocking that Leica basically took its last top of the line camera and released it as a 'budget' camera in this generation... No other company would even dream of such stuff... but other camera makers fear their customers... Leica customers are a much more nicer and patient people...

6200 EUR for the new M. This is ridiculous. M9 was 5400 EUR.

Probably LED selected framelines with the button... {M9 Titanium like}

In the end, a bit underwhelming I have to say.

The good part of the whole Leica announcement, if you ask me, is the Dlux 6 - 24mm at f/1.4
I will wait for the Panasonic version and reviews.

You do not need to wait, Sunti. The LX7 has already been released and reviewed some weeks ago.

Leica devotees and users are sure happy! Good luck to Leica. A bold step to keep the M series going. Sales are more than OK, even, if like me, kinda out of reach..Those of you who can afford, Go and enjoy.
There are lots of cameras but only a Leica.
The color X2 well following Pentax lead with crazy deco. Great idea! Using that makes you really invisible! Yes! Nobody would think a pro using that..
If not pro, well get out your zoot suit!
