UK Region London RFF Meet: June 18

Trying not to hijack the thread, but I'll be in London the previous weekend - June 10-11, is anyone interested in doing the same one week earlier?

Please email me nksyoon at bluewin.ch

Cheers,
Nick

So where are we meeting, and when?
I will be travelling by train from Birmingham, (can't be arsed to drive all the way down), I can be at either Euston or Paddington at about 11:30, so if I know where we are going to meet I can choose the nearer of the two.

Nick i might be - seeing as you bought one of my prints it would be nice to meet up :)
i'll know nearer the time.

Good question! Manolo, do you have any suggestions? You mentioned markets, perhaps the meet will begin at one of these?

Personally, I'd be ready to start any time after ten-hundred; people can always join in later. We'll probably need to swap phone numbers at some point before this begins.

I'll probably use the train as well for this one, parking was an expensive pain last time till Manny found me a better free place (Cheers Manny). Also means I get a rest on the way home and can have a beer.

I will be using Paddington from here. I could catch up with you there or we can all meet at a single point. Will PM contact number nearer the time if needed.

That sounds right spectacular.

I have to warn you, though, that when we're in Camden Town I'll be tempted to stop for pie and eels. :D Jo didn't much like the sauce, but I think I was smitten!

Sorry can't make London for a while, perhaps somewhere further north another time.
Not sure if and when I will return to London, got far too much hassle from over zealous security people when walking around Canary Wharf area taking photos last year!! :bang:

I think I'll miss this one as well; going to be in Bristol that weekend.

I have an erm.. conflict of interest that I didn't have before :)

Ah well, such is life, thankfully!

Have fun,

Tom

I also might make an appearance, if you don't mind my french accent. Don't worry I can outdrink british people on their own beer (separate glass, thanks) if necessary :D

I can bring whatever is in my signature; if any of you want to see "something" I have, in person, feel free to ask :D

Mango and fellow RFF'ers the 18th is looking a but tricky for me as i'm way behind on my printing sessions up North so will be down in London later than i planned. I may be able to catch up beers in the evening if one of you would kindly PM or email me contactme@simon-larbalestier.co.uk when you know where you will be drinking.....
Simon

yikes. this is so tempting, even just to seem some leica's and bessa's etc in the flesh. The only rangefinder's I've ever seen have either been cheap compacts, or my own Zorki.

Verrry tempted to go along, but I think I might need to make the decision at the last minute, it all depends on cash [insert young student sob story here] and I wouldn't want to be in a pub and not afford to drink myself under the table! If I can't go then I hope everyone has a great time.

Ash, as long as you can afford film to shoot, you're welcome to join us.

If you can't afford to go for the curry and beer afterwards, that's OK. But I'm sure we could all scrape together a crown or two to help you buy a pint... :)

Thanks BJ.

I can't miss out on a curry though! I'll see what happens about a possible photoshoot for a DJ I know (he organises most of the music events now, and he wants some photo's of people in the club dancing). If I can get the job and make some money then I'll definitely be up for the trip.

Otherwise it'll be a last minute thing, so if you see a crazy ginger haired youth jumping off a train then it's likely me!

Hope to see you all there.

Ash, where in Wilts would you be travelling from?

I just checked out the train costs and they are not too bad if you book well in advance. For example Chippenham to Paddington single the cheapest is £8 with a 'FIRSTMINUTEFARE LEISURE STD C' ticket, and the same cost back as well. so £16 might not break the bank (too much). Normal advance booking return is £40.

Thats cheaper than my 2 hour car park last time in London! Would have been a lot more but Manny knew other places, thanks Manny.

We can all let you have a few of our chips as well :)

Good luck with the DJ shoot.

Is there anyone joining us with a Bessa R3a? I scanned through everyone's sig, but didn't notice anything.

I'd like to get my hands on one, and give the 1:1 viewfinder a try; I'm very interested in this. Of course, auto-exposure doesn't sound like a bad idea, either. And then, once I have an M-mount camera, it makes sense to buy a tabbed 50/2 Summicron... Oh, it's a slippery slope!
