Thanks for the photos, Charlie, I like the first one. Not so sure about the second. Based on these two, it reminds me of Hexanon 60/1.2. Not sure why. Maybe Summilux too.
Hope to see some more in the future.

Its great when Leica special editions get used for what they were made. I took particular delight in taking my BP MP LHSA set overseas and using it in ways that are in keeping with leica traditions. It is beautiful, but no less functional than a regular MP, so why not?
It is sad to hear people bashing those who can afford expensive kit. The more high margin posh kit sold the better Leica's profitability which is good for anyone who might want to buy the brand. I treated myself to the LHSA and thoroughly enjoy using it. I don't feel a lesser person because I own one either
Jealousy and bitterness rarely results in being able to afford the things you yourself aspire to feeling any better when you cannot.
I like that black Rolls very much. It would match the BP LHSA MP nicely LOL!
Does anyone else here derive a lot of pleasure from the connections between things and events. For me, saving for the BP LHSA, taking delivery, using it and seeing the shots on the wall has proven incredibly satisfying, partly because of the knowldge that so many would have been destined never to leave the box. This is why I don't like to sell cameras. They all have their photos.

.... However, I am totally enamored with film at the moment and even brought my Titan M7 with me .... ~C
It seems to me that once a person swings in that direction having spent time with digital few ever return unchanged, if at all....
digression...
Its funny that so many of us spend time working with film despite the ease of digital. There has to be something in it and to me, it has nothing to do with resolution or dynamic range etc. At present I am banging my head trying to put portfolios of work together despite needing to fly back to the UK every 3 months and print what I can in my ex-wife's garage
A comment that took me aback recently, came after sharing some of my ongoign project work (in progress) with a moderately well-known photojournalist who I was introduced to thru a journalist friend. He commented that he really liked my work, and that it was somewhat reminiscent of some memorable documentary/photojournalist names of the 70s-90s, but adding that I needed to go to a seminar to learn to shoot in a more 'contemporary fashion'. The examples given horrified me. I thought it was transient and superficial (kinda like if Fashion TV was to try doing in depth current affairs documentaries
I presume the MP Titanium is 0.72?
I also read the MP Titanium is actually made from Titanium rather than just a finish. This would account for the light weight! I am not sure about the M7. Certainly beautiful cameras, but thats not surprising because its a beautiful metal!

As an engineer, I derive a certain amount of satisfaction in using a well made, well designed functional piece of equipment. Usually for that to happen, form must follow function and the company must be somewhat driven from within with a vision. Leitz, now Leica has/was driven from within for many years as evidenced by the camera/lens history which with me starts with an M3 kit, progresses to an M6 classic and now a pair of M7's with ASPH lenses.
But and here is the big but, these items are still only tools to accomplish something with and unless a different form offers an advantage to accomplish something, I bypass. I certainly can appreciate the 'Titan' M7 and MP and wonder about the manufacture and why they feel heavier as reported maybe due to the need for increased thickness for forming? It would be interesting to actually know the weight comparisons over a standard M7 body verasa Titan. I can afford whatever I want but I just won't pay the prices asked for these 'Titan' cameras or use a designer product at an increased cost.
Its evident that Leica at some point became driven by the bottom line with the introduction of all these 'Limited Edition' models. I have no problem wiht Leica realizing revenue with 'Safari Editions', they are just not for me unless they offer some advantage.
I'm really much more interested in the performance of the new Noctilux and 21mm Lux lense as both are on the planning board for acquisition but only if they offer some advantage in doing photogrphy as I do it. So I am eagerly awaiting some real world experience with these lenses.-Dick

I really don’t mean to be gauche but my curiosity is killing me. (And please excuse my ignorance.) In addition to some fine camera equipment and very interesting cars, you have talked about performing and recording and meeting with the President. These are all things that sound very interesting to me. So please tell me are we talking to??I'm working doing TV and promotion for my upcoming tour . . . .

From MIR ("According the the press release, there were 30 parts and fittings involved with using this light weight and incredibly strong, corrosive resistant metal to protect its internal components."), it is 90g lighter than the original MP which is 585g. Basically the Titan MP is 15% lighter. I think it is more valued for its look than for the actual properties of titanium. It's a camera, not a fighter plane afterall !

The best camera is one that still works!

Ah ... we selfishly disregard the fact that there are members who are probably unfamiliar with the identity of Ascender ... he's the singer/songwriter and performer Seal.
Here though ... he's really just another Leica nut named Charlie ... albeit with some damned nice gear!

Thank you CMDR and Ali Baba,
I made an earlier statement which I believe is incorrect. Both the Titan M7 and the Titan MP are lighter than their regular black or Chrome counterparts. Here are a couple of images I shot last night whilst out to dinner with friends in Paris. Both shot with the 0.95 and I believe the first one was wide open. What was cool was that the first one was shot at ISO 160 but I was at around 1/180 sec! The other was ISO 640 but that was more for effect than out of necessity

Thank you for posting those pictures, the one of the lollipop stand in particular is rather stunning. That really is a magnificent lens (and presumably a good photographer behind it

I find it interesting that machinery often has a cultural hallmark in its design that can often lead to the nation of origin being ascertained by looking at it. The spitfire looks British, possibly Italian, but certainly not German. The ME109 looks quintessentially German. The Humvee looks American as did the P-38 or P51. BMWs & Mercs look German, just as Astons look British... Leicas look German and appear to be a product of a wider design ' culture.' I am no engineer, but still it is interesting.
I love the fact the Leicas feel like ultimate tools in the hand. Some prefer other cameras for functionality, but there is not doubting the impression that Leicas make on many people simply because of that teutonic feel. To me, the MP Titanium, is that philosophy taken to its modern extreme. Lovely...
To think I passed up a mint MP Hammertone kit complete with lens and Leicavit for $4200 a few years back. Silly me.

It's just tough to dream about great tools (Nocti... *drool*), but we get by with whatever we can. Our love for photography should only encourage others, not decry them.

Hahaha.... too funny Keith. Thanks for the compliment. "Just another Leica nut named charlie" sounds so much cooler than "Seal the international blah, blah, blah.....". I much prefer your description.

Hi Charlie,
that titanium MP truly is a beautiful camera. Glad to hear that you're actually using it and all the other "collectibles".
I wish you all the best, so you can find some time within your tight schedule to enjoy these beauties.

Let me shed some light on engineers and how they are culturally different around the world. By degrees I am a Nuclear Engineer and have interfaced with German Nuclear Power Plant Engineers and other engineers from around the world. What I have learned or percieve depending on your viewpoint is that cultuarally German Engineers design something until its satisfies thier Engineering Ethic they have been taught without regard to outside influences to a great extent. Japanese engineers are very very good and quality and reliability is highly prized. US Engineers have become slaves to the accountants and marketing people. They are told, don't worry, make it as cheap as you can because we can market anything and the bottom line is profits. Of course in Regulated industries as Nuclear, there is a limit to how much of this the Regulaotr will tolerate. I have found the German Engineers in thier design of Nuclear Power Plants to be even more conservative than US designers whcih is a good thing.
Leicas and many German products are well engineered and maybe over engineered as witness to the many Leica cameras and lenses still plying thier trade. I just like the way the Leicas function and continue to function. We drive his and hers Volvo XC wagons because of the Swedish ethic for safety, reliability and long life but with the influence of Ford being felt in the current new Volvo products, its MB, BMW or Audi for us in the future.
I hope that engineers and designers at Leica keep designing and building cameras. I am not too thrilled with thier implmentation of the digital M and hope they can do better in the future. In the meantime the M's continue to my main photography tools with Nikons being used for 300mm and beyond.-Dick
