I think it is pretty cool, lighter, cheaper, simple. I got a great deal on a mint 240 and really appreciate live view for checking RF to lens calibration so I think I will pass.
Good for them, maybe the -12% off is the new normal as well.

I would love a significantly lighter version of an M9.
Could care less about video or live view. Biggest issue for me would be giving up the CCD sensor.
Obviously this isn't ever going to happen but one can wish.

I think they missed a trick on this one , if they could have just made it a bit smaller I think it would have tempted some 240 owners to switch ... And therefore sold more cameras. I certainly wood have as the size is the one thing that bugs me about my M240

I agree with above. Someone said earlier they will pass and any 240 owner probably will unless getting a second body for back up.
If they have made it thinner, it may be more enticing for 240 owner to switch. As it is, switching is losing money.
now if they can do a Monochrom ME at 500 more than this 262... 😱

I don't think removing features is the way forward. At this point I wouldn't even consider upgrading from (or in addition) my M9 unless the video and LV functions were part of the deal. But I do some commercial video so that's why.
But personally I'm more interested in the Monochrom ultimately, as an additional camera to the M9. The M240 and newer cameras don't really seem all that better than the M9, except high ISO, which I have other cameras already that works better for that.

The SL is a bridge with the S system and a new body for the R lenses (and M).
It's a wonderful camera, but in this context it's way too big. You see again and again Leica users begging for smaller and lighter.
A least the ME262 😉 is lighter. But they are doing the cheapest changes here, and that precludes a redesign to make it thinner, but that will greatly effect sales too.
This same camera, close to M6 footprint, would have 3 times + the demand.
Of course they can never seem to meet demand anyway. 🙂

Why are people looking at this as if it was an upgrade to the M240? If you have the M240, of course you don't need to "upgrade" to this. This is targeted at those who don't own a M240 and appreciate a digital Leica in its simplest form. If you do video, you buy the M240.

Typ 262 is $405 over M-E for high ISO. I personally would choose m4/3 for CMOS and M-E for CCD.
