A bunch of reviews and previews dropping now...it looks like the digital M I'd always hoped for. Too resource-constrained to own one at the moment, but one of these days!

Oh, I'll own one! I'm sure - 8 years from now, when people are in the market for M15s
Am I the only one that is sad they have lost the frame line illumination window since the 240 (Audi M9)? I really liked it design wise. I'm sure the LEDs do a better job but I find the face of an M misses something without it.

"The camera as a tool does not produce better pictures than the M/240...
If you are happy with the results of the M/240 or the MM2 it is best to skip the M10 release."
I think the M10 is great but I the above quotes from Erwin sums it up for me. When I do use my M240, I have no complaints other than size, but as I shoot film about 90% of the time, I don't mind waiting on the M11. Or M12..
It is a curious move to use a sensor that came out two years ago, and back then wasn't leading edge. I get standardization across the range makes things cheaper, but this is still a $6500 camera. It's a shame that other mfgs sensors on cameras now over two or three years old are technically better.

What will be the new going price for a clean used 240?
Anyone notice that the price of the M10 is the same as for the new Fuji GFX50s body with 50MP 33x44 sensor (70% larger), so if we are talking image quality and tools...

I am not currently looking to get back into digital M, but if and when I do, M10 (or whatever the cheaper version that might come in a few years time) will be it. If they make M10-D, I'd be extra tempted.
If I need a digital M for whatever specific project, I'll enjoy picking up an M9 or M240 variant at lower price following the M10 announcement.

I agree with Emile. I think Leica did favours for the M240 owners, as it is the only M game in town if you want video, and much more importantly to me, uncompressed raw files.
The M240 offers compressed or uncompressed files. The M10 only compressed.

That's a great joke. Just because it's not a camera you want doesn't mean it won't sell well. There's always people out there wanting the latest and greatest and this camera answered a few issues people complained most about with the M240. It's faster, has a higher buffer, better sensor, slimmer, has wifi, etc. This is going to push prices down for sure.

I'm tankful for Leica on M10 like this. It isn't only M9 +1, but also M-E v10
So, Leica gave me peace of mind with M10 as logical evolution of M-E (no video, no USB, close to film-M size and weight). Hopefully by the time I have to update M-E some used M10 will be around!
IMHO, M240 and its flavors looks like hiccup on M9-M10 line.

I'm not in the market, but I'm starting to get curious about owning an M9. My problem is that since I don't own any Leica glass, it seems rather pointless.
Clive, nice to see you around! I have tested Jupiter-12 (remember?

Leica M10 with 75mm Summilux M Asph.
Is this a typo or actually an Asph 75 lux

But I have to admit..after seeing Huffs review..it looks smaller and just better..if it had video..I would jump..
I think this will sell well for them..
But look to M8/9/M262 prices..to take a hit..
I'm not sure the m240 will until they bring out the next ..vundabar...M cam...w/video..
Then you will see it... prices that is..drop like a stone..

Clive, nice to see you around! I have tested Jupiter-12 (remember?) on M-E and it surprisingly performed even better than on my M4-2.
Good to hear from you! I still have that Jupiter 12, but I've also added a Voigtlander 35mm Nokton 1.4. For the last little while, I've been shooting the Canon 5D though. Cheaper all around and full frame vs. my GXR.

Steve is not going to be able to afford a new M10 until he sells a few more of those "Portal Wonder Boxes" he fabricates that supposedly allow you to communicate with the dead. He is hawking those over on his Huff Paranormal website.

I don't expect to see the M262 prices drop much. It's gonna remain a production camera, the M240 won't. I think you're overestimating how many people use video in the M cameras. I've been selling these things for the past 3 years and have yet to run into a single person who is using the video at all. Everyone says, "Well, it's cool that it's there but I've never used it."
