M6 minus battery

I only used to pay any real attention to the meter in my M6 (and MP) when shooting slides and that was only to keep the highlights. However, it can be a distraction if you let it be.

As an aside, my step son (16) had to shoot 3 rolls of B&W for the advanced photography course he is doing from this month. I lent him my Canon F1, but the meter battery died after the first couple of shots, so I lent him my hand held meter and explained the sunny 16 approach to him. By the third roll he wasn't using any meter, just sunny 16 and his guesses checked out against my meter. How cool is that.

Show me a man who's got but a single 50mm lens, and I'll show you a man who's got will power and conviction 😀
(Waves hand) also.

Don't know about having will power, but I just don't have/feel the need to get another, lens or body. 🙂

Ara, I have an M4-P and use sunny 16. Indoors also. I do have my old Sekonic L-308 with me just to confirm my base exposure before I start shooting.

Just as an example, I shot the picture below using 1/250 as the base on Kodak BW400CN film. I set the aperture to f8 using the sunny-16 rule, as confirmed by the light meter (not the other way around). sorry for those who has seen this picture on another thread
