There is an M8 for sale for $1,700 on Ebay. Seller has no history and it is listed as a "Starving Artist" in need of cash. Any thoughts?

for me - too much risk!
For myself I wouldn't buy, normally looking how much positive he is, what did he sell (and buy) in the past and when he did so

Interesting, seems legit, but a zero feedback seller for such an expensive item is too risky. Anyway, in my experience, a desirable item can triple its price in the last two hours. It doesn't seem like a typical scam to me, but I wouldn't bid, at any price.

Yes, it's all in the last few minutes on the auctions. I know, I have nervously watched something I was selling sit w/ barely any bids, then in the last minute it would rocket up. Someone wrote an article on this, saying it's foolish to place a high bid on an item early in the auction in the hope of scaring other bidders off. All it does is result in the item selling for more than it probably should have sold for to begin with. Just why that is I don't know, but I've watched it play out time after time.

Looks valid to me. Seller has zero feedback, but then again it's a local pick up only. [ edit, I don't see local pickup option? just 2 day UPS to the US only ] - bit more risky.

Some folks just set their reserves as the starting bid. For all anyone knows, someone could have already bid ~$2500 on it, but ebay only increments when a higher bid from another seller triggers it.

Starving artist whose neighbors include: Steve Jobs, Larry Ellison, Gordon Moore and Neil Young.... I knew I should've gone to art school instead of business school. :bang:

As time goes on , I do think used M8 price could go lower than M7 or MP in the same condition. Mechanical cameras hold their value more and more fun to play with.

Finally sold for $2,425.
Do you think used M8 prices will go bellow an used M7 or MP ?

Already are here in the UK.
FFordes, a respected on line dealer, had a BP MP for £1700 that listed for two days before selling and has several M8s at the same price. Aperture, London S/H dealer, just sold an M8 11,000 clicks Ex +++ 3months passport for £1650.
