Hi all
I'm just about to order a new M9. My M8 has given me great service but I feel after nearly 2 years it's time to upgrade.
My M8 is black... And I was first inclined to get a black M9 but a silver one is in stock at my dealer and he can do a good price on it.
($200 cheaper than a Black one)
So what do you think? Black or Silver? Which is better wearing?
The vulcanite finish on the Black M9 is great but apparently Leica use a Leatherette finish on the Silver.
Are they in fact different?

The Nikon FM2T was silver, wasn't it?

You really want someone else to tell you what color you should get?

Well not really... It's just that I'm leaning towards the Black but the Silver has it's own charm.
I was hoping someone would chime in with pictures of their "pimped" M9s.
Has anybody customized their M9s? Custom leather etc???

don't hesitate, go for black. grey and black are both paint finishes, i think, so wear should be same/similar. the vulcanite on the black camera gives a better grip. black is "stealthier". my hunch is the black resale value will stay a bit higher.
and the most important reason? deep in your black heart, you really want it. by comparison, $200 is peanuts.
good luck

You've got me worked out...
Oh and Sorry about Germany and the soccer.
I was hoping they would get through.
For what it's worth. The game could have gone either way.
Luck played a very big part in the final outcome.

well, you have a black M8, which leads me to believe that you already have some RF lenses and they're black. if your current lenses are black, i'd strongly recommend that you get a black M9. (i think silver lenses look odd on a black leica ... but that's just a matter of aesthetics.)

One more vote for black.
The only thing I like in silver bodies is that both silver and black lenses look good on 'em. Can't really say that about black bodies and silver lenses.

Silver, if I got one it would be that silver gray color, that is sexy.

True on the aesthetics bit... I'm a SLOBB myself, much nicer than being BLOSB

just know that whichever you get, you will regret it and think back about why you chose that one and why it was a terrible decision. enjoy shooting your m9

I agree, such a svelte look to that silver m9. And I bet most of them would be black anyway!

Either one would do. My M9 is dead. =(

The question you should ask yourself is "why is the grey one $200 cheaper?" The dealer cost is the same and they are in huge demand sounds fishy to me. Careful of demo cameras too as they only come with a 3 month warranty. There were quite a few demo Greys making the rounds for $5995 so be careful

Black lenses match well with black bodies. Silver lenses match well with silver bodies. So what would be the best match to a gray body?
To me, if there were a silver M9 instead of gray, I might have gone with that silver body... Wait, I may still take black one since my M8 is black, so my wife won't notice that I have a new one....

Good call. i find my grey to be really eye catching compared to the black. Black lenses look great on it, and so do silver, or titanium since I have the hex 50/1.2L.
