Waiting on Maitani
I don't read German, but caught this on APUG. Looks like Maco has purchased Agfa paper and Rodinal stocks. Maybe some of our German members can elucidate?

Says Maco is going to take over and make Agfa Photo Multi-Contrast B&W paper and Rodinal again, and that they will be available in January. No mention of film.

I figured someone would, but this is good news, IMO. I haven't used Agfa papers for many years due to local availability problems.

I believe that they are just selling off the existing warehouse stocks of Rodinal and Agfa MC paper.

I knew German classes would come in handy some day (finally!), so here it goes
it says Maco have taken over (bought, presumably) the remaining stocks of those products and they will be available again starting January. The text doesn't say anything about Maco actually going to produce these products.

My translation:
Maco Photo Products buys the remaining stock of Agfa Multicontrast MCC 111, MCC 118, MCP 310 and MCP 312 as well as the developer Rodinal.
They will be distributed as long as stocks last.
Mirko Boeddecker from Fotoimpex wrote in his forum that a company named A&O intends to buy the colour chemical plant and thus will make Rodinal, too.Rodinal saved? (german forum entry)

Bitte schoen! OK, now, looks like some stock is left, and *maybe* somebody will buy the color chemical plant.
If not, should RFF members pool in some money and buy the "Rodinal" name and manufacture it ourselves? Hmmm?? hmmm??

A&O bought the minilab spareparts, does service for the minilabs and, here is the good news, bought the chemical plant!
A&O consits off three companies which specialize in service and recycling.
Sorry, no english site.

Well-known
Socke, thanks for looking out for these good news and keeping us posted! Perhaps there will be a life for Rodinal after Agfa, after all.
To be on the safe side, I've stocked up on 16 bottles (500 ml) of Rodinal. (Some people keep a wine cellar, others ... well, I should get a life, shouldn't I?) Figure it will last for about 1000 rolls at 1 + 50. Two rolls a week for ten years.

16 bottles? I thought I was nuts. It should last for a very very long time, unless you're doing 4x5 shots.
Now, let's hope A&O didn't buy the plant to sell off the parts.
