All lenses available for this system (6/7) have the same minimum focus distance of 1 meter. In my experience, this is actually pretty close, try pointing your camera even 2 feet in front of a strangers face.
If I'm after a close up ill either crop, or switch to 150.
I find the 50 and 65mm lenses for the 7 Are most useful. As the angle of view is more appropriate for the minimum focus distance when shooting portraits out and about.
Like many have posted, this particular system is not aimed towards close focus or even being a quick street shooter. I prefer my M3 for focus accuracy, but **** guys I think Mamiya had their work cut out for them when they promised a new compact replacement for the press cameras. My personal opinion is that we are lucky to have such a nice camera, with gorgeous Mamiya optics, in the first place. Such a camera if left on the drafting table another year or two would have been swept under by the digital rush.
Ide love to see more images from everyone! Excellent captures!
Envious, and in need of an appropriate scanner!
