I am not sure of the age of the camera. The 7ii is a current model, though. My claims adjuster says he just needs a $ figure from Mamiya for what it would cost to replace the lens/body. I will have to get them to do that instead of a repair order for the lens. Then my insurance will issue me a check for that, minus my $1000 deductible. I am free to spend the insurance check on any camera I choose: new 7ii set up, used 645, etc.
If I spend more than the insurance gives me, they will just give me more. If I find a camera for less than they give me, I get to pocket the cash. I have to spend $1000 of my onw money no matter what camera I decide to get. I can say "forget insurance, forget repair, I will buy a camera that costs less than $1000 and sell the lens as-is on ebay."
It seems my decision rests on "is the Mamiya 7ii what I want?" Is the 65mm the lens I want? Maybe a Mamiya 6 and 2 lenses is what I want. This damaged camera is my 2nd go-around with the 7ii. I had one a few years ago with a 50/80/150 lens combo and sold it to get into Hasselblad. Then I sold the Hassy to get this Mamiya.... Maybe I just sell off my MF film and not replace anything....
