MARCH/APRIL ... FOURTEEN DAY ONE CAMERA ONE LENS CHALLENGE ... the start!

Normally a lurker, but I'll go ahead and jump in on the fun. My dented M2 with misaligned rangefinder, My collapsible summicron 50 with custom flare management, a.k.a. cleaning marks. And HP5+, which there is nothing wrong with.

I already feel my new Canon 5DII shooting me dirty looks.

I'm actually already thinking ahead here people ... at some stage in the future I'd fancy a 'sunny sixteen no meter competition!'

Even the guys/gals with DSLR's could join in ... they do have manual settings don't they? ... somewhere in between 'medium' and 'well done!'

Maybe shorten it to a week and have three entries per participant again with pics encompassing a range of lighting conditions!

Am I crazy to consider such a thing? 😛

Sunny 16 in the depths of winter.. that would be more of a challenge 😉

Not here it wouldn't ... it would just mean you weren't beating of flies and keeping an eye out for snakes as you adjust your camera settings outdoors! 😀

Then let's set the rules differently for those down under... instead of shooting without a meter how about getting a nice portrait of a cassowary? 😀

The cassowary is one of the most dangerous animals on this continent I'm told ... I've never seen one!

The lucky (or perhaps unfortunate) soul who caught the first ever recorded image of a drop bear would automatically win 🙂

Actually I believe most DSLR's have built in meters that work even in manual. For what your proposing you would have to exclude any camera with a built in meter unless it can be rendered useless by removing the battery. So older film slrs could possibly be used but aperture priority cameras would be out as would most of the fixed lens cameras.

If a number of people could reach some semblance of a consensus on a dirt cheap, easily available camera or camera/lens combo, it would be fun to do a challenge where everyone used the same camera, same lens, and same film.

OK, I think I have it narrowed down. M8 (M5 still an outside chance) with a Jupiter 9 (85mm/f2) or an Angenieux 135/3.5. I want to shoot something a little different, one of these combos should fit the bill.

I have never shot this Jupiter 9 so I think it might be kinda fun.

Off we go, this should be interesting!
