phooey. unless panasonic changes its mind, the 20/1.7 won't have OIS. maybe olympus will make a body with built-in IS...

I've finally taken the time to do a dof comparison of m4/3 rds and 35mm film. One of my concerns has been loss of narrow dof options.
Seems that, 20mm f1.7 is about the same as 35mm film f2.5. I often shoot my Hexar AF at f2.5.
More and more I am interested. Hopefully, Oly will announce additional lenses, instead of Oly badged versions of the Panny lenses.

There will almost certainly be an Oly with in-body IS. I see them continuing on two model tracks, as in the e4xx (no IS) and the e5xx (with in-body IS), so I don't think that's a concern.
I hope Oly surprises me with fast primes -- 10, 14, 18, 25, 40, 55.

Amusingly, there are lots of people on DP Review complaining that Panasonic have missed the mark with this camera because it doesn't have a 24-400 equivalent superzoom and (the number one complaint) movie mode. Unsurprisingly the lack of fast primes isn't a big issue with Panasonic's traditional punters!When two worlds collide....

Ahhhhh, but it will! If you check out this Japanese website you can check it out - a HD camera with a 14-150 "HD" lens. Apparantly the super zoom focuses actively during movie recording. I don't know if the other lenses will though.

Also if you google a bit, one of the previews on the major review sites mentions that there's a HD m4/3rds coming soon. Of course the Japanese site has pictures of it as well. Stereo mic on top near the hotshoe, dedicated red record button. Looks very similar to G1. Also comes in AVCHD format, so I would assume it will be similar quality to Pana's soon to be released digital video cameras. Expect the G1-HD to be priced accordingly though, I don't think it will be cheap.... Or some sort of crippling to keep it away from Pana's own HD video camera market.
Slightly back on topic, I think it's a great little camera. I'm digging the flip out LCD for waistlevel al la TLR style shooting. Give me the kit lens, and the 20 f1.7 and I'll finally have a decently sized digicam. The only thing that sucks is a lack of distance marking for hyper focal. Panasonic, add some cool feature like the snap mode in the Ricoh GR's, which changes for each fstop. That would rock!
Overall I think even in it's current iteration it will make a great street camera. I usually sit on f8-11 at 28mm, so the kit lens will serve that purpose well. And I can flip out the LCD and put the camera down to my waist. AND it's silent like my m6's. Somehow I think my m6's are going to be lacking this summer.....
Personally I would love a different version like some of those 3d renderings, but I'm assuming oly will take care of that, doing some crazy far out design like they did for the e300 originally. As long as the image qualities there at ISO 400, I'm sold.
