Minolta SRT's -- Gotta Love 'Em.

Yesterday I took out my freshly reworked SRT-100, my sentimental favorite of SRT's.
Rainy dark day, and the 58mm F1.2 MC Rokkor was the perfect lens to shoot with, using the medium speed Eastman XX film I prefer. Wide-open at F1.2 got a few good "keepers" yesterday. I need to use this lens more: It is fantastic.

Camera is working flawlessly in every respect. It is covered with Green Kangaroo skin from Cameraleather.

Anybody else here use the 58mm F1.2?

The SRT102 has some very useful refinements on it, compared to the SRT101
And John Titterton does great repair work.

Notice the background areas in the photos with the f1.4 Rokkor.
Very smooth and pleasing. No swirlies at all. Great lens.

Actually I did that portrait with a MC Rokkor 135 f2.8 almost wide open. The 50 f1.4 lens is also great.
 
I've still got my SR-1 from 1968 (seen in my avatar) Built like a tank, yes, I still love it. I also have an XE-7, and an X-700. I have a variety of lenses for them, and use them all occasionally.
 
Effective 800mm F11 Apo Minolta Rokkor-X.
400mm F5.6 Apo Rokkor-X with Minolta Apo 2X Converter.
In bright sun, I can use this effectively with Eastman 5222 XX.
Shown on my motorized Minolta SR-M, with gimbal head and Zone VI lightweight tripod.
Ideal for birding in full sunlight.

I need the longer focal length because I am shooting film. I enjoy the challenges of doing this vs shooting digital.

Great portrait!

My favorite Minolta lens is probably the 85mm f1.7. Mine is an MD Rokkor, but it looks just like the third-generation MC and the hefty MC construction clearly carried over. After Minolta introduced the newer 85mm f2.0 MD (much more compact and much lighter), the f1.7 was phased out.

Here are some recent photos from the 35~70 3.5 that I use on my SRT101. I really like the results I'm getting from this zoom, and I think there is a really nice quality to the OOF areas...

thank you, yeah from what i understand, thats the story behind this lens. I shoot a M ROKKOR 90/4 as well which is aparently another product of the partnership...
