After a week of work, I made my first website: http://www.luigimanzione.com/
The graphics are simple and some sections are still under construction. The galleries will be added in the coming weeks.
I still have much to learn, so the site is not really definitive. I will be grateful if you would give me your opinions/comments on the site: its strengths and weaknesses, what to add or remove, etc.. All your suggestions to improve it are welcome.

Thank you all.
Luigi

PS: I do not know if this is the appropriate section of the forum for this new thread. My intention is to sell my photos, but above all an effort to introduce my recent work on the web.

terrific start!!!

you have a great eye for shapes and textures and timing and composition. you seem to have a grasp for what to "leave out" and yet make a compelling image.

i will be a frequent visitor...now, i just gotta get my website up.

thank you for sharing the heads up about your website.

breathe, relax and enjoy.
laugh more, smile more...i do whenever i get near a mirror.😀

I know very little about computers and web sites, but I do like the simple, clean approach you've taken with yours. I find it easy to navigate, fast and effective.

The pictures are (of course!) excellent!!

John, Richard and Will, thank you for your comments. Your support is very important for me! The simple graphics is both a choice and a necessity because of my lack of experience in website creation and also to give prominence to the photos.

Really like your site and especially your photographs! Simple is better, in my estimation. I enjoyed very much the series with your shadow always in the frame somewhere.

One small thought - there may be a way with your website software to allow the text/photos to be centered in the screen. This is especially useful for people with big, high-resolution monitors. Right now I have to look over at the left side of my screen to view the information.

I'll certainly be checking back in with your site from time to time. Congratulations!

Luigi, looks super, to my taste. I'm a big fan of the home-page slideshow: total control for the photographer and an easy, passive (no-effort) experience of your (tremendous) work for the visitor. Only false note for me was letterspacing p o r t f o l i o s. Me, I'd leave it alone.

Thank you Larry and Pine Pond. I really appreciate your thoughts and find your tips very useful to improve the website.
Letterspacing eliminated: without spaces is better.
About images/textes centering in the screen, I will search a solution...

It's a very well done site. I really like how clean and uncluttered it is...easy to navigate!

I like the very clean look of the website. It complements the light/dark tension that your work on the site showcases so beautifully, and poetically. It is also easy to navigate. Best of luck with your website.

Coming from a design background, two things I´d do:

1) Highlight the active category in the main menu. When you are at "home" keep it underlined for example.

2) Home screen: Move the title ("W R I T I N G / W I T H / L I G H T
W R I T I N G / W I T H / S H A D O W") below the photos. Add "From the series ...". Center photos horizontally.

That aside, a good start and some fine photographs.

Best

One more quick comment: the link to your RFF gallery in the links page just seems to take me to the main RFF gallery, rather than to your own gallery of images, so it may be worth double checking the url.

Thank you David, for the support and for the tip. I really appreciate it. About double url in "Links" page: I still do not understand how to remove the address below...🙂

Thanks Bille, so much. I really appreciated your advice, especially the latter. I am a novice in websites, but I absolutely need to figure out how to center the photos (I also would like to have this) and how to move the text below. I believe that these changes will be a little difficult for me, but very important for the design of the website...

I changed the main alignment of the pages from left to centered. Now it's more readable, but I still have some doubts about the presence of plenty of white space on either sides (before the white space was on the right sides). What do you think?

Luigi, I think that the site reads better with the text centered on screen. Most people with large high resolution monitors are used to seeing blank spaces on either side. It is a concession to people that still have small low-resolution monitors. On their screens there is not so much blank space on either side. I'd rather look straight ahead than turn my head sideways (just my opinion.)
